The problem with the system is that there are too many people spouting of nonsense when no one really knows what the heck is going on anyway. The solution is STFU.

Janne,
I am no republican. And it's the generalizations that lead to that conclusion which quite frankly are confusing to say the least. I respect your views, in fact I respect the right that we all have to different perspectives. But if I'm not Pro Obama then that means that somehow I am Pro Republican? The fact that I think a lot of people miss is that both sides of the isle are fucked up beyond belief. BOTH. That's the only thing I've tried to shed light on here on this topic. Simply because I pose a different point of view means that you can call me a redneck, rodeo riding, racist? Man that's really grown-up of you. Insane. I really can't believe what you just said. You know absolutely nothing about me. Disregard every time I've said I hope Obama wins. Disregard every time I've talked shit about McCain, but still I represent some mindless Republican to you? You might find understanding if you actually looked for answers that go deeper than Republican and Democrat. I actually care about this country beyond the political parties that 'represent' it. If you're still stuck on political affiliation, then you're really not seeing the whole picture and I applaud you for your simplicity.
Look, I'm done. I really, this is just offensive and actually this is the reason I left this site a long time ago. There are some amazingly smart people in this thread and on this site. But there definitely are a few that imo, quite simply lack maturity and stink this place up.

tommyo,
(if you're still around to read this)Hey, I know I don't chime in all that often around here. But I have to say, having not been very interested in previous elections, I've probably learned more about politics by checking in on this thread occasionally than I ever did in history class or in the news. There is some dumbass shit here sometimes which can keep it fun (if it's not actually mean-spirited)... but shit, there's been some really intelligent stuff here too. I don't agree with a lot of your views, but you're dead right on a lot of stuff. Especially your respect of different perspectives, and about the current system being fucked up. You've definitely enlightened me. So thanks. Hope you change your mind and stick around.

"Barack Obama has purchased a half-hour of airtime on CBS, sources confirm.
The Obama campaign will air a half-hour primetime special on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 8 p.m.
Sources say the Obama camp is also in talks with NBC and Fox. It’s not yet clear if an ad buy is locked on any other network, however, or if the special's duration or time period is the same."

This would be the point when DeNiro walks out from stage left, looks at Obama and says, "You. You! You're good. You are very, very good."

Bond market commentator John Jansen's blog today:
"I have said this before and risk redundancy but more and more it seems likely that the resolution of this crisis will be an historic financial calamity. Each and every step which central banks and regulators have taken to resolve the crisis has been met with failure. In the beginning, the steps would produce some brief stability. In the last several days, the US Congress (belatedly) passed a bailout bill, the Federal Reserve has guaranteed commercial paper and in unprecedented coordination central banks around the globe slash base lending rates. Listen to the markets respond.
The market scoffs as Libor rises, stocks plummet and IBM is forced to pay usurious rates to borrow. There is no stability and no hiatus from the pain. It continues unabated in spite of the best efforts of dedicated people to solve it.
We are in the midst of an unfolding debacle. It is happening about us. I am not sure how or when it ends, but the end, when it arrives, will radically alter the way we live for a long time.
Whoever wins the US election and takes office in January will need prayers and divine intervention."
