American campaign discourse seems to be “look how big my candidate’s rally is. This is proof we’ll win”. It’s weird. But I guess when voters are ultra-polarized there isn’t much else to discuss? Anyway, American politics makes me sad

I learned so many new things today on social media. I don't know what I'd do without this incredible knowledge conduit.
- The Biden administration hasn't fixed everything destroyed yet by Hurricane Helene because it affected southern states Harris probably won't win.
- Biden isn't flying down there right away not because he doesn't want to use resources better used for relief, but because he doesn't care about them.
- The hurricane couldn't have dumped that much rain on inland states without cloud seeding by the government so they could wipe out poor people, because it had been downgraded by then to a low-grade hurricane or tropical storm (reminding people of the obvious, hurricane classification concerns speed of the hurricane, and has nothing to do with the size or potential for large amounts of rain).

JD Vance is doing a weird thing, he’s really living short term, focusing too much on this election. If he slow-played this he would do better in the long run. If he ran it like a marathon, he could easily be president in 20-25 years.
Buttigieg is doing this right. Stepping in and being smart but not getting too close to the fire. Hopefully, this is a sign that Vance becomes a nobody and Buttigieg rises to the occasion one day.
