I'll take a poetic turn of phrase anyday:
“The financial crisis looks like fire on a distant shore...”
Welcome to the future. Again, like most things, the Japanese go there first.

Seriously, if China, which holds all american loans, decides to get rid of the dollar, US is fucked. And rightly so
All honest and decent people in the world hate America -- 65 percent overweight population living on debt money, and the rest of the world is paying for it. Useless fat chumming lemmings, kill them all and donate their bodies to a bioreactor -- pay the world back with compost and methane gas, the little use which can be extracted from these parasites
- wowjanne76
- lol. you'd be living on a collective in mother russia now if it wasn't for the us.johndiggity

US total GDP -- $14 Trillion Dollars
US total debt -- $10 Trillion Dollars National Debt + Social Security and Medicare liabilities $50-60 trillion = total debt around $70 trillion (not including Fannie & Freddie, AIG etc bailouts)
Total world GDP -- $54 trillion
American economy is in a situation, where the whole of world's GDP must be returned for their debt
- Did you just pull these figures out of your ass?Mimio
- No
http://en.wikipedia.…
next question******** - Yeah....wikipedia says total debt is $53 trillion.Mimio
- ok yeah that changes everything********
- At least it's closer to the truth.Mimio

McCain, moments ago on my teevee:
"Senator Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process. Now is not the time to fix the blame, it's time to fix the problem."
Oh I see. Let me run that through the translator: "We shouldn't play the blame game. Too serious. Besides, it's Obama's fault."
And er...um..so Obama is allied with the House Republicans?
I'm getting dizzy trying to understand all this....
- So childish.Mimio
- don't let Obama make this complicated for you. you'll understand when you know what the problem is and thats him.KwesiJ
- ...him.KwesiJ
- you mean, he who is him?robotron3k

If McCain dropped dead tomorrow, his campaign would find a way to make it Obama's fault.

i'm no government conspiracy theorist but sometimes the amount of "shit is fucked" coincidence blows my mind. it's almost as if i'd be willing to speculate that someone wants to postpone an election.

Interesting times. I’m proud of America that the bail-out bill was voted out. Now I guess you all have to hold on for a hell of an economic roller-coaster ride. At the end of it all, you will be able to put Bush and the rest of his cronies where they belong – in jail.
- it would be nice, and a good example for following leaders to be more careful, but it will never happen.. :(janne76

So is there a feeling there that something big is happening, or is it just “business as usual”?
