Lydia has to survive-- she represents how the institution is complicit in the black market trade. She'll probably outlive all of them.
Hank will probably walk out to the pool and play it cool, then excuse himself quickly and have a long introspective sit at home before he hatches a plan to catch walter.
Walter will know hank was in the bathroom (by the horrific odor) and see that his book was in there. Then he'll split before anyone knows. Obviously the meth business will continue-- matt damon will help but eventually double-cross.
Hank could kill walter, but I don't know if walter could kill hank. Show ends with Jesse killing Walter AND Hank, and making away with a lot of money and a lot of guilt. He still has his girl and that kid.
Epilogue!
The ricin will stay in the wall until the next family moves in, and THEY will be killed, save one alienated husband who survived because of a fight they had that night. ...he will resolve to cook meth for a living.- not sure if I'm laughing more at your screen name, or "horrific odor."mg33

Some good theories on their Facebook page. I like this one:
--
From the intro to Season 5, we know that Walt has survived until his 52nd birthday, but has changed his appearance and has either run off to New Hampshire or has false ID to indicate he has. This means that Hank has not grabbed him or that he has escaped. But growing your hair and a beard is not much of a disguise when you're running from your brother-in-law. Is Hank dead? I doubt it, because the rest of the DEA would know about Walt anyway. In episode 5:8, we see Walt coming out of a CAT scan, but never see the results. My feeling for a long time has been that the cancer will come back, which would be poetic justice after Walt thinks he's out. But something is driving Walt to buy that big gun.
Dean Norris said in an NPR interview that something disturbing involving baby Holly was coming. Could it be that the cartel, unhappy that Walt has quit, killed Holly to bring him back, leaving the threat that they will off Skylar and Walt Jr.? No one close to Walt has died yet, but Gilligan & Co. show no compunction about killing popular characters. It wouldn't surprise me to see Holly and/or Skylar die. Losing a family member would be worse than dying for Walt.
Or might the cartel grab Jesse and force him to cook? If so, might Walt, having been diagnosed again with terminal cancer, feel that he should rescue Jesse because of all he has done to him (allowing his girlfriend to die, tricking him with the Lily of the Valley, breaking up his new relationship, forcing him to kill Gale) and that dying in a shootout is better than wasting away?
They say in Episode 5:8 that the kids have been at Hank and Marie’s for three months, so there are about eight months left till Walt’s 52nd, which corresponds nicely to eight remaining episodes. Whatever happens, Walt will not get out alive. It's not that kind of show.

Perhaps Hank will let the whole thing slide because he values family over his job. I say this only because his new job is unsatisfying and he doesn't even have the go-ahead to pursue the case, and there are millions of dollars coming his way if he doesn't turn him in.

Is it just me or did the writers really drop the ball on Skyler's character?
- just youmonospaced
- don't you mean jump the shark?pango
- I feel like she went from a 3-dimensional character to a flat nothing in the span of 3 episodes.futuremongolian

Why did they have to kill inmates? They could only trace back to Mike and now that he's dead no reason to kill them.
- They trace back to the entire business and all of its details way past Mike.monospaced
- but the business began fresh after Gus's death, new operators, distributers, suppliers etc.hotroddy
- all you gotta do is kill lydiahotroddy
- those guys worked with Gus and Mike. I think one of them was the operator of the laundromat.mg33
- some of those guys had definitely seen Walt before.mg33
- fair, but is it really motive? they already have a sketch of Heisenberg. They would be adding nothing new to investigationhotroddy
- mg330
FOR THE LAST TIME
The DEA and the cops do NOT have a sketch of Heisenberg. Everyone is getting this mixed up. The only place a sketch of Heisenberg appeared was in the Santa Muerte shrine. It was posted by those Mexican cousins Leonel and Marco Salamanca who eventually try to kill Hank.

I like this theory:
Possible Theory: OR, Gilligan calls back to his obvious Tarantino influence: Mr. Pink (Jesse) flees with the loot; wounded after a Mexican stand-off, Mr. White (Walt) is cradling the cop Mr. Orange (Hank). Mr. White takes aim at Mr. Orange. The cops bust in and shots are fired. Fade to black before we know exactly who dies.

Also Hank will look like a complete idiot to the FBI once they know his brother-in-law is a meth mastermind.
- qoob0
Also didn't Hank's hospital bills get paid by drug money?
- Yes but he never knew. Never had a clue. He would be complicit in nothing.mg33
- @mg33 prove itBrokenHD
- Nowhere in the show is it suggested that Hank knows Walter is Heisenberg, until now.mg33
- Yes, his bills were paid with drug money, but he never knew that.mg33
- but think from an outsiders DEA perspective after-the-fact. Its gonna look pretty damn incriminating.BrokenHD

Walt will manipulate and convince Hank to compromise.
- rylamar0
The way Hank said "Walter White?", and the look in his eye, in that flashback of Hank talking to Walt about the "W.W" looked like he had a suspicion.

So what would you do ? Stick the book in the back of your pants and take it with you as evidence (thank goodness for the already goofy walk) hoping Walt doesn't notice something missing OR take a snapshot of the page and leave the book in the bathroom, with the fear that WW might eventually realize he's been careless ?
- BonSeff0
put it back, stack the mags back on it, act like it's all good and tail him. it will lead investigators back to the garage home base and walt doesnt have the skills that mike had to lose a tail. that is where they store the mobile lab equipment. BUT then again, who knows if walt goes back there if he is indeed "out". does todd know enough to do the cook? there is still the handshake deal he made with lydia, so who knows how many lbs were promised.. good shit
still hope jesse hauls ass. really want that dude to disappear with the cash.- I think he is "out". There's enough opportunity for tension now Hank knows, he doesn't need to be cooking to generate the danger. It's right there.mikotondria3
- the danger and excitement in the script - it's right there.mikotondria3

Some people are digging deep, but who knows...
"one particularly gripping theory ... that Walt's book was not, in fact, a gift from Gale Boetticher, but was one from his old girlfriend, Gretchen.
...Gretchen's maiden name is Black... fans know that Walter and Gretchen were two of the three founders of the company Gray Matter ? a name that could likely be the result of combining White (Walter) with Black (Gretchen). But of course, there could be another mentality behind this name, which also serves as a sort of "hint" toward Gretchen's nomenclature. After she and Walter broke up and Walter abandoned the project, Gretchen married the third member of Gray Matter: Elliott Schwartz, taking his last name. Schwartz, for those who do not know, is German for "black." So, while this wouldn't hold up in any real world court, it could provide some kind of a clue in a universe controlled by writers."
- Did Gail really give Walt that book though? I can't remember.mg33
- If Gail gave him the book, it would have been behind the scenes, didn't happen on screen.elahon
- zamn zamnBrokenHD
- I think he did, I'm watching again from season 1 will let you know once I reach thaternexbcn
- Gail's handwriting. Walt Whitman reference. I swear he did give the book to Walt...orrinward2

Just finished season 5. I enjoyed this one much more than the last 2. Was more like the first 2 with crazy scenarios being introduced and played out within single episodes, not dragging over seasons.
Good theories, keep them coming. The Todd character is not sitting too comfortably with me at the moment, why would Walt trust this random guy with all his secrets. Todd is ruthless and a bit too keen to learn. Not sure why he was in some random bug fuming company either but I guess he had to come from somewhere.
- not so random. they provided the houses for cooking.sine
- I get that, but for someone who was working as a bug guy, with just a bit of nicking stuff on the side he seems pretty dangerous.Ranger
- ...dangerous and connected.Ranger
- right, i understand what you mean.sine
- wasn't just a bit of nicking, it was organized and systematic burglarizing across the cityBrokenHD
- i would think he has a history at that level...BrokenHD
