A few years ago I was having the hardiest time finding work. Money wasn't a problem, I had lots of that. What really was troubling was the sense of failure I placed upon myself. Like somehow I lacked the very basic skills to survive, which made me worthless. I also didn't want to take a crappy job, as it would've been even more damaging to my fragile ego. I was fully prepared to run out of money and starve. Luckily I found work, and in retrospect my whole crisis was rather silly.
What I'm trying to say is stay positive, and don't let this set back get you down. This is just going to be one more thing to look back at laugh when it all works out in the end.
- i'd take any work, always did. but thx and good it worked out..janne76

I'm so sorry that you're going through all of this janne. I hope things get better for you very soon. *hug*

Sorry to hear that, Janne. I'm sure you'll find something.

Yes, freelance is in ruins all over the world.

Damn dude. This is terrible. I'll definitely pray for you. I've been pretty down and out myself. I'm not going to offer any trite words of encouragement, other than to say thus far the American Midwest doesn't seem to have been hit quite so hard as other parts of the developed world. Then again we could be next... all the same, if you're thinking of jumping ship, maybe the States is calling your name (assuming you can find a tanker and sneak onboard). If you ever make it to St. Louis, I'll grill up one of my delicious shoulder roast steaks for you. Promise.

Is freelance really in ruins worldwide? Doesn't seem so around here. Granted, it's not booming by any means, it's downright lean and cutthroat, but it seems the agencies are having a harder time than anyone, since their fees are so much higher... no?
- me either matt, and i'm maybe 400 miles south of youversion3
