LOL @ what happened in the TDF today.
A crash caused by a spectator and a motorcycle involved leader Chris Froome, his support car couldn't get him a bike, so he started running uphill because the finish was close. He got a neutral support bike that was too small, then I think finally got one of his own bikes from the team car.
They took the lead from him and he dropped down to 6th place, but sounds like they are awarding finish times based on when the crash occurred, and he will stay in the lead.

- Too many people on the race course because of the shortened stage. Apparently people walked 6k down from the summit. Organizers made the right call.ronburgundy

What clothing companies do you guys like for cycling gear? I'm a big fan of Twin Six, our of Minneapolis.

I can't remember if I'd already posted this, but about a year ago I finally did something I'd wanted to do for a long time and had a bike built, tailored to me. Steel frame & Campag Chorus group set.
I got it from a guy called Ricky Feather, who is an artist with a welding torch and a file. His Facebook is the best place to see his latest work as he's not great at keeping his website up to date: https://www.facebook.com/pg/feat… but his site has some nice photography of his older projects: http://www.feathercycles.com/
The bike is friggin' glorious to ride and I had an acknowledgement of where the inspiration for the paint job came from added to the frame ads a little finishing touch – which by the way is all paint, no decals.:

I just bought this bike! It is being built as i type. Finally upgrading. I can't wait to ride this thing. 700x40c tires! that sounds like pure comfort to me.

https://masibikes.com/products/c…- 40c? dang. Think I'm gonna put 28c on mine over the winter.section_014
- I have 28c on my bike now. some nice thick urban tires. This will be a completely new ride. Almost like a cross country bike feel.capn_ron
- 40? When i mount the 25 tyres on my bike, it seems like i'm driving a tractor ;) hehe... lovely bike captain, enjoy!!OBBTKN
- 40c sounds fun for off roading! The 35c tires on my Surly Cross-Check never felt like enough for the rocky trails here.nocomply

- Why the no brakes? I never get that, besides being "cool". Nice, though, I miss the playing days.formed
- No brakes: One less piece of equipment to maintain. Makes you commit to stuff & have better speed control. No need for a gyro when doing bars (which I don't do)********
- Looking cool is the least of your worries when you're over forty and riding kids bikes!********
- "why not brakes?" lol, do skateboards have brakes? It's not for the morning commute.fadein11
- no*fadein11
- Skateboards don't have breaks, but they go much slower, and if you have any skill, you can easily stop with a powerslide.section_014
- BMX bikes minus brakes are generally used at skateparks/parks, you rarely see pro riders with brakes. With skill you can stop minus brakes on a BMX also.fadein11
- Mostly street riders ride brakeless, park riders want brakes for fufanus, tyre taps & the such.********
- too old for this... would kill myself in half a minute... Nice post for Sings you're getting oldOBBTKN
- It doesn't take much skill to stop, you just jam your foot in the back like it was docpoz's mom.********
- lol.fadein11
- you are correct as well.fadein11
- I get not having a front break if you want to do bar stuff, but c'mon, a single break isn't hard to maintain...feels like all the hipsters w their fixed bikes..formed
- Fucking LOL. Have you ever seen a bike IRL? In your expert opinion where would you put the rear tyre break for bars, under the seat?********
- Do you even shred, bro? I have to adjust my bars at least once a week due to the beating they take.
Keep hatin'.******** - You seemed interested in the reasons why people rode brake-less and I gave you several of them. There's not much more I can do for you.********

Hadn’t ridden a bike in twenty years, but I was looking for a fun way to get some exercise last year and ended up buying an entry level mountain bike hybrid thing. I started riding this spring for the first time, and it hurt like hell at first, and I almost gave up a couple of times. Started just riding a couple miles around the neighborhood. Each time I go I go farther and faster. Now I’m taking hour long rides, on and off road, for several miles and it feels great! I haven’t worked out like this in so long I needed it.
I would post a picture but you all would probably make fun of it because it’s not some fancy cool road bike fixie. But I love it.
- Three months in and I’ve lost weight, my sciatic pain is 100% GONE, I’m happier, I sleep better, and I see muscles in my legs I forgot existed.monospaced
- "fancy cool road bike fixie" XD
It shows you haven't ridden a bike in 20 years.
Glad you're enjoying it!palimpsest - Good for you mono, happy to hear!utopian
- Post a pic! Most of my friends have moved on to hybrids. No shame in em.garbage

- Great stuff! I miss riding off road.Chimp
- Thanks guys. I’m trying to make it my morning routine, and go about 4x a week average. Hard with a toddler and an infant :)monospaced

- "Haven't ridden a bike in 20 years" is one of the most American things I've heard on this site.
*Takes cover from gunfire.palimpsest - I suppose that’s true perhaps if you have a narrow view of the world and maybe ignorant about life and what it can throw at you, especially in America.monospaced
- Haha. Not all of America is car obsessed fatties, just most of us. Crazy how I’m bike friendly we can be even in this day and age.monospaced

- Thanks for the explanation.
I'll go to bed a wiser man tonight.palimpsest - Sure. Says the guy who only came to talk shit. Real high ground stuff there. Sleep tight.monospaced
- Now I'm curious to know what you're riding. doubt many here ride fixies. Some do quite expensive road bikes though, seeing what some have posted here.Nairn
