never had the inkling to watch this because of Vincent Gallo, seems like a total douche, but it's actually quite understated and interesting, I quite enjoyed it, took me back to some of the cinema verite films of Cassavetes.
Buffalo 66
- Gallo could get away with being a dick because of how strong this film isspl33nidoru
- Definitely top 72!palimpsest
- You're right on with the vibes, Ben Gazzara is in it. Solid flick.garbage

Since Learning Corey Yuen has officially passed away here are a few of his more famous films:
- MrT2
Festival bait, a couple of standouts.

No trailer but well worth it. Relentless couple of days in the life of an immigrant to Paris. Probably won't land if you think they're all rapists.Funny one set in an alternative Winnipeg that looks like 1980s Iran and in which everyone speaks a mix of Farsi and French. Wes Anderson's an easy comparison, but it's odder and better than his recent stuff.

This was pretty funny

Have you seen Crimes of the Future and Inifinity Pool? Similar body horror vibes.Morning_star - Crimes of the future was nuts. Internal organs created as pieces of art is a great concept. Titane was just bonkers thoughIanbolton

As part of the 30th anniversary theatre release I watched this in a cinema last night for the first time.
If you have the time and inclination seeing it in a cinema makes a difference. It's mother fucking glorious.
- Saw it at least 6 times in theater when it was first released. Opening night on a Friday was one of the best movies experiences ever. Top 70 for sure ;)Ramanisky2
- I never saw this one, not really a fan of Travoltanb
- Yep, I was crazy about this movie when it came out, saw it 3 or 4 times on the big screen. It still holds up today, one of my favorites!elahon
- What? lol go see it; saying you didn’t watch it because of Travolta is like saying you didn’t watch breaking bad because of Danny trejo_niko
- Ie he’s an insignificant character in it and even then he’s quite good._niko
- Also please tell me you’ve seen Saturday night fever or blow out, travolta’s great in those._niko
- Mostly I know him from Swordfish, Face Off, and the Look Who's Talking trilogy. All good films but not great.nb
- You’re saying PF is better?nb
- ok go down to your local blockbuster and rent the vhs copy of Blowout, Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction. and report back_niko
- Blockbuster closed in my townnb
- god damn it, then jump in your Camaro and drive to the next town over!_niko

I watch these three films over this weekend and would thoroughly recommend them. Wong Kar-wai’s Fallen Angels is neon-beautiful and surreal in parts. There’s so much lore around this film and if you’re nerdy enough to care, the lens and Karma Coma are great elements to dig into after you’ve given it a watch.
Richard Linklater’s Before trilogy are critics favourites and films I haven’t seen since they came out. Julie Delpy is spellbinding and coupled with Ethan Hawke deliver an intimate, witty and sentimental film. I’ll be completing the trilogy later this week, but the first two films are wonderful.
FALLEN ANGELS - Wong Kar-Wai
BEFORE SUNRISE - Richard Linklater

Watched Boogie Nights for the first time in about 15 years, I forgot how good this was! Queuing up Magnolia next.
- Check out Paul Thomas Anderson's first film Hard Eight. A really impressive debut film for a 25 year old. He was only 27 years old when he shot Boogie nights.Leigh
- I second this and I second Hard eight, so good._niko
- PT Anderson is a great director.Ianbolton
- Hard Eight is the best film in the Hard series since Hard 3: Even Hardernb
- I've only seen Hard Eight. Is it worth watching Hard - for context?Ianbolton
