The gov't can really get anyone if they wanted to. They did the same thing with Al Capone. They were able to put him away for tax reasons because they didn't have enough evidence for his other crimes.

They're holding Assange in prison while US attorneys find a legal reason to extradite him to America.

"
Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, the man behind the publication of more than a 250,000 classified U.S. diplomatic cables, could soon be facing spying charges in the U.S. related to the Espionage Act, Assange's lawyer said today."Our position of course is that we don't believe it applies to Mr. Assange and that in any event he's entitled to First Amendment protection as publisher of Wikileaks and any prosecution under the Espionage Act would in my view be unconstitutional and puts at risk all media organizations in the U.S.," Assange's attorney Jennifer Robinson told ABC News.
Robinson said a U.S. indictment of Assange was imminent."

I'm glad wikileaks publicly distanced themselves from anon because anon are a bunch of misguided losers who are not helping anyone.
- hey help me to think that there is at least a tiny chance of fighting backpr2
- But anon have nothing to do with wikileaks and their cause, wikileaks should give you hope. Anon are tools.VelocityFade
- http://www.p2pnet.ne…pablo_28
- this is what people want to think anon is. wikleaks is just being politically correct but "anonymous" don't even really existVelocityFade
- ...exist. They are totally random strangers who latch on to the name anon and think they are contributing to a real cause. they arn't.VelocityFade
- cause...they arn't. It could very well be people with very dubious motives starting these things in name of AnonVelocityFade
- whats stopping a pr company from adopting the name 'anon' and crowed sourcing a large DoS attack for their own purposes?VelocityFade
- purposes?VelocityFade
- They'd just tell ever one they were anon and publish a BS manifesto or somethingVelocityFade

- anon did NOT force paypal do anything nor did they take site down, it was just a big stupid rumor .VelocityFade
- That wouldn't sway my opinion of them either. They are the cyber equivalent of a group of trouble makers who smash a starbucks during an otherwise intelligent and peaceful protestVelocityFade

"Whatever you think of WikiLeaks, they have not been charged with a crime, let alone indicted or convicted. Yet look what has happened to them. They have been removed from Internet ... their funds have been frozen ... media figures and politicians have called for their assassination and to be labeled a terrorist organization. What is really going on here is a war over control of the Internet, and whether or not the Internet can actually serve its ultimate purpose—which is to allow citizens to band together and democratize the checks on the world’s most powerful factions,"
