Cryptocurrency is suddenly everywhere — except in the cash register
While interest in crypto has exploded, few people are using it for its intended purpose: to pay for thing
But for all the hype, there’s scant evidence that digital currencies stand on the threshold of some kind of mainstream breakthrough. While a recent Pew Research Center survey found that 16 percent of Americans have used cryptocurrency in some way, most buy it as a speculative investment, not for its originally intended purpose — as a way to pay for goods and services.
- who said it was to pay for things? "cryptocurrency" is already an outdated term.inteliboy
- if u want to replace fiat u need to pay things... or do the bitcoin suddenly not replace fiat anymore... flippin clownsneverscared

Alongside the hedge-fund cowboys arbitraging and leveraging their way to fresh fortunes, there’s a culture war being waged, with big implications for anyone thinking that the blockchain is just a cool way to lower the cost of cross-border remittances. Hidden in the army of moneymen is a fifth column of revolutionaries. Meet the new crypto-communists.

so why is Bitcoin tanking now?
- Because of the Fed stating that they're eyeing to issue a digital currency? or what?Krassy
- S&P tanking as WAR gets priced in.shapesalad
- It'll bounce up as WAR startsshapesalad
- its the rassanssted
- It's the Fed. Interests rates are going up, that will slow the economy. Everything is going down, pretty hard, for months.formed
- No blood yet, but there will be. We need a big correction, runs like this are bubbles.formed
- Crypto being the biggest of the bubbles, of course, with the longest to fall. First the little guys, then BTC, etc., will get destroyed.formed
- How long before this bottoms out?Chimp
- its the reguladoooooorsted
- @Chimp i'm personally waiting for a 37 ish since 4amsted
- It was at 10k 1.5 years ago. I can see it going back to that. First, there's little selling, little bounces, but still optimism.formed
- but it should be at 39 now for that, this 40 barrier holds nice :) we need more bad news.sted
- Then we have a few big, bad days and people start to get scared. They take profits. It goes down more, then people get scared, the ones that bought high, formed
- @formed 10k in what timeframe? maybe in a year or so it will be around 20k. and thats it.sted
- panic ensues, real fear, then real panic, then real blood....finally those that took nice profits, or planned with cash on the side (that's me), swoop informed
- If we have a 'real' crash, like a 2000, 07, etc., I can see it going to $100, but that takes something we can't see yet (like war)formed
- It's not just crypto, everything is going to go down a lot. This sugar high cna't last forever and people will start to panic when they can't get 30% returnsformed
- in their sleep. It needs to go back to 10%, and that's gonna take some serious corrections (like DOW at 30k). High flyers always fall the fastest.formed
- Have money ready, this could be one of the best opportunities we'll see for a long time!formed
- @formed is the QBN financial advisor !Krassy
- @formed yup, no doubtgrafician

- it's going to be a tough year for everything, but once we have absorbed the hikes and return to earth with expectations, there will be another bull run, likeformed
- there always is. How far we fall is what no one really knows.formed
