@albums, sorry for the late response. I lost track of this thread when work got a bit hectic last week! Anyone here modded their Roland TR-707 rom sounds to 909/808?
I've googled, found a few old examples but nothing concrete. And none appears to have developed kits, etc.

ok, please bare with me while I rant.
Behringer can go suck a box of cocks.
I knew their products were shit, and it was against my better judgement when I purchased a mixer from them in January.
I had owned a old Eurorack back in 2000 and it was ok.. so i thought how bad can it be.anyway, 3 months after buying it, 2 of the channels just died.
I called the store and they said i would need to send it in.
I did, they then sent it direct back to Behringer and 5 weeks later, it arrived back today.Problems are fixed, only now a completely different channel isnt working.
Honestly, who the fuck sends out a product from a service centre without actually checking that the unit is operating properly.
Anyway, I called the store again and they were apologetic and told me if I send it back, and they can replicate the fault they will refund me.. which is good.. only to replace the mixer with a non behringer mixer is at least double the price.
moral of the story. Behringer makes terrible products that make the baby jesus cry blood.
anyway, I ordered this now. I know i am putting the cart before the horse as i havent received the refund, but i cant be without a mixer another month.. its fucking pointless.

have been tempted with picking up a TR-606 .. i almost did it today.. was talking with the guy, had shipping price and everything..
but i couldnt pull the trigger in the end..
I love the 606, but for 130euro less i could pick up a cheap Waldorf blofeld..
and I know, one is a classic analog drum machine and the other is a current digital synthesizer .. its like apples and oranges..
but when it boils down to it.. its either 6 drum analog drum sounds, or 1024 digital synth sounds..
first world problem i know..

so i have too many toys. and i've been a good boy and stayed away from ebay for a while. then this happened last night. but i mean have you ever seen one of these listed for $125? i had to do it.
it has some busted buttons but apparently is '100% functional'. i may be a little worried the accuracy of that...

^ That's a great price. Actually was just searching completed listings to see how much I could get for mine.
It's easy to replace the pads, buttons & screen or add a HD. Check out http://mpcstuff.com
If that doesn't have the "new pads" you'll definitely want to replace them, as the "red/blue optimus prime" model had defective ones, which they fixed in the black model. The "defective" ones wouldn't trigger properly around the edges, etc.
You'll also want to put JJOS on there. I run JJOS 2xl on mine.

these things are all over the map on ebay. but stock ones that have no pad upgrade and maybe a dead pad or two usually go for ~$225. like this one should have. and then i see ones with jjos and pad upgrades and maybe a HD and reversed out red lcd for ~$500. so it depends. i personally wouldn't pay more than $200 for one w/o the pad upgrade.
