Spent a few hours on Monday evening creating a song for my Dad's birthday this week. My parents are big Northern Soul fans and go dancing a LOT!
Asked ChatGPT to write a song based on my dad, his interests and told it what structure to have and the vocal hook I wanted in the Chorus.
Then added these Verse, Chorus etc in order to build a song structure in Udio.com. Using some tips from a vid Id watched on youtube about how to get same chorus repeating and not regenerating, and tips on emphasis/hooks etc.
The output is absolutely mind blowing. The production sounds exactly like a Northern Soul production. The drums are magnificent and creatively used - as drums should in NS!
If this was decent song lyrics, rather than about my dad, golf and graphic design and cats then this would sound like a legit Northern 7".
Blown away buy what udio can do.

picked up some new bits.. got a Octatrack Mk2 cheap as it was having a bunch of dead LED on the UI panel, and then just got a replacement UI panel from Elektron directly.. still way cheaper than other second hand options and it has a new UI board.
the other thing im looking forward a few moments to play with is the Pittsburgh Modular Cascading delay network.. it arrived a few days back but due to crushing sickness the last 2 weeks, its just been sitting there.

- octatrack is nothing new in my setup.. this mk2 is makes 3 in my inventory, although 1 will go up for sale soon..autoflavour
- but in answer to your question, mainly using it as a scratch pad to quickly load up loops, but also as a live recorder for random bits in the studio.autoflavour

I couldn’t take it anymore... been eyeballing these for a long time, then they release this all black one which is sick, then they release a fresh firmware version adding all sorts of engines and stuff not the least of which is ability to upload your own samples and manipulate them to destruction... then I see last week they dropped the price of these down to almost $400 so I caved; this is probably it for the Stellar model they’re liquidating em. I pulled it from box, upgraded it, loaded it up with a bunch of rave stabs and jungle fx samples and immediately was hooked with all the fun-ass tweaking! And love that all this is packed into some nice and compact.

anyone using the ableton live 12 suite? I had 8, upgraded to 9, now I'm missing max for live and other plugins I didn't keep track of over the years following a new install. thinking a fresh comp with the latest iteration and all the upgrades is a good choice. any personal experience of major changes or just more of the same for $750?
- I did the preorder upgrade to save a bit. 12 Suite was worth the upgrade from 11 Suite IMO.mort_

Started usinating Login on the iPad Pro this a few hours ago. Not bad. Didn't use any loops, but definitely need to fix the bridge and maybe actually come up with a Chorus.

do you have any personal experience with acelerated degradation or a noticeable quality difference when playing a clear / translucent vinyl vs a black vinyl record? This has come up a few times with a couple of friends and I also found this on reddit...
