http://cdm.link/2017…microkorg - love the way they transferred the sample, remained me of the days of Commodore 64. Wonder if that method could be explored more, smartphones etc...fruitsalad
- so coolprophetone
- fruitsalad - yeah that'd be cool idea for sharing messages with people. like a "secrets" app ;)microkorg
- glad microtonic is getting some love, such a great bit of software.kingsteven

Overbridge support"Compact, rugged and to the point. Digitakt is a formidable drum machine. With an astounding feature set and an exquisite digital sound engine, the stage is set for a striking encounter.
Rhythm is a fundamental part of music. Off-kilter beats, four on the floor workouts, polyrhythmic excursions all serve the same purpose. They provide musical structure and sometimes they even make us dance.
Digitakt is a new compact drum machine from Elektron. It contains all the necessary tools to make people move to the beat. A digital and highly flexible sound engine, sampling capability, a live-friendly sequencer, the means to control external MIDI gear. Round it off with a super crisp OLED screen and wonderfully tactile back-lit buttons. Done deal.
Drum machines are something of an Elektron speciality. With the Digitakt we show why."
- An Elektron spokesperson says that the price will be around $600 and that they are aiming to release it in April.kingsteven

- Oh man, that is tight, if it can bitcrush and low pass filter to get that SP-ish sound then heck yesprophetone
- Can't wait for the incoming video demosprophetone
- they only had one there, and it was under glass, looks about as big as the analog heat and solid.keewee
- Pretty cool little box. Don't think its anough to annoy the OT owners but it is enough to annoy RYTM owners as it CAN sample and CAN do midi out.microkorg
- yet another drum machine... all you need is a few drum samples stuck into logic/ableton/renois... etc and then play with fx's.fruitsalad
- melody and harmony these are the things electronic musicians need to focus more on. 99% of electronic music is musically inept, same old chords, harmonies andfruitsalad
- and melodies. Sonically electronic music is in the right place, but after 1min my brain gets bored of the unsurprising lame melody/harmonic constructions.fruitsalad
- i would suggest you find the 'making dittys' thread old man.kingsteven
- i agree with the 99% but some of the most interesting electronic music is born of musical ineptitude and limited hardware...kingsteven
- whilst thats true to a degree fruitsalad, having hardware makes most people be more creative than sitting in front of computer.microkorg
- yeah i dont see the Rytm users that annoyed.. to be honest, i am underwhelmed by this release.. seems like they are breaking free of the boutique marketautoflavour
- midi out on Rytm would be good.. but i dont see it as a deal breaker.. analog kick drums, that is definitely lustautoflavour

got a pair of avantones, been thinking about it for years... used them before but just wasn't prepared for how shitty they would make my mixes sound. just finishing up an e.p. this week and quickly made some mix adjustments through them (30 mins per track). A/Bing the before/after is unreal. best studio purchase of recent times...
i remember someone else got a pair on here a while back? auto? how are you finding them?
- i need thisApeRobot
- muller brockmann monitor riser also highly recommended.kingsteven
- yeah i got a single one.. given you are supposed to mono the signal seemed pointless buying 2.. definitely rate it.. although to be honest i dont use it asautoflavour
- much as i should.. but that says more to my attention span than my mixing.. but everytime i have used them, there is always a definite difference..autoflavour
- what are you using as your monitors?autoflavour
- i worked out a trick in ableton.. group a utility plugin to mono the signal and a external instrument plugin set to route to an output channel, then map a keyautoflavour
- to toggle the rack on and off.. place it on the master and you can easily switch to the avantone .. i have it set to the asterisk on the number pad.. super easyautoflavour
- Adam A7x as mains, they are really unforgiving in the HF, really improved my mixes so got the avantones to do the same for my mids...kingsteven
- can always switch to mono... using the mixer to a/b atm. shopping for a monitor controller but they're $$$ :-/kingsteven
- the rack on the master is super easy tho.. and quickautoflavour
- mixing in Logic, figured i can use the monitor presets on my big focusrite to do it for now. going to try and fit my tannoys in here too so need 3 way switchin, kingsteven

- Nice hairdo.stewart
- don't knock the Cuckoo.microkorg
- i still need to get an OP1 lolfuturefood

- yup, this has the makings of a future classic. monophonic prophet six with a sequencer for 450 noop, yes.kingsteven
- You not think these are aimed at DJ Douchebag?microkorg
- what did you call me? haha :-Dkingsteven
- na, the demos sound killer. seq & arp seem solid, fx all sweet. hopefully there's an editor like the mopho or some sort of plug-out thing.kingsteven
- i saw an initial video and it seemed a bit EDM related as it syncs with Pioneers mixers etc. Will check out some other vids :)microkorg

I've been making some stuff again on an away-from-the-computer setup consisting of an op1, ipad with focusrite dock + novation circuit.
Picked up the circuit for $200 on CL a few weeks ago. Really fun box and inspiring for such a cheap machine. In particular, the 2 synth parts are good because you can design deep patches using the Nova synth engine on your computer, and also load samples into it.
Some of you dudes might enjoy it. Also runs on batteries if you're away from electricity!
- this one's great. can set patterns up quickkilogrand
- been loving mine, unbelievable sounds for the price.kingsteven

Finally got a moment tonight to start learning and playing with my OP-1
It's a bit of a headfuck to be honest.. so many bits to it, and the whole tape thing is kind of hardcore.. complete shock to the system coming from endless reworking in ableton/octatrack..
It's going to take a while..
But dope
- Nice! About to pick one up, finally hahafuturefood
- great fun and completely new way of making music. no "undo" so you have to plan well and commit ;)microkorg
- Can't believe the prices new ones are at the moment - £699 to £799! Wish I'd held onto mines for a few months longer to sell in current market ;)microkorg

Which headphones more suited to making beats?
https://www.bestadvisor.com/best…
They must have a good sound, and preferably be light and not expensive.
Maybe some of you have used something similar:)
All suggestions will be much appreciated!- https://pro.sony.com…fruitsalad
- Sony MDR 7510fruitsalad
- They are detailed, clear, balanced. Make anything else sound like mud.fruitsalad
- Sennheiser HD650 are the best headphones I've ever used for making music. The lower end ones in that list will fatigue your ears much faster.section_014
- using DT770s simply because they're so fucking comfortable, can wear them for hours but prefer the sound of my Grado SR-80s i'd say large, open back likekingsteven
- those HD650s would be perfect (as long as you're not planning on tracking vocals)kingsteven
- Beenusing Bose QC20i with a Lofelt Basslet recently. F*cking awesome in a silent bubble of perfect sound anywhere.microkorg
- get some monitors.. forget headphones.autoflavour
- ^ monitors are usually frowned upon when you try to set them up in a cafe, in a park or on a plane though so bear that in mind.microkorg
- TBH if we're going there you kinda need at least 2 sets of speakers and 2 pairs headphones :-Dkingsteven
- @kingsteven Curious: What about if tracking vocals, but also beat makin'? (soy puro iPhone Apps y Focusrite).BrokenHD
- open back headphones will typically give a better sound but they leak like fuck, not good for tracking or public transport ;-)kingsteven
- ahh yes ;) thxBrokenHD

The slim GB cart is available now http://nanoloop.com/shop
- that mono has me tempted now if only for this... http://nanoloop.com/… think my 'newest' cart is v1.1kingsteven
- prophetone0
- Not sure if worth $100, but coolprophetone
- not sure what the 'mono' is about, nanoloop has been about for 18 years... remember saving up 40 quid for my first cart when I was 17...kingsteven
- it is fantastic, interface takes a while to get used to but when you do it's surprisingly quick. iphone version is great too.kingsteven
- cow'p and dj scotch egg are worth checking out if you want to hear it used well.kingsteven
- hah, i was about to say prophetone has a bunch too, then i realised i'm a fucking idiot.kingsteven
- i had one, but i could never work the fucking thing out.. never made anything with itautoflavour
