Use an iPad as an external monitor and as a drawing tablet on MacOS?
BRB buying an iPad.
- Top of the line USD $1,899.00...
...Luxury indeed!ideaist - You can always use a surface pro. Same price.monospaced

Every god damn keynote they show these stupid AR games. Nobody cares!

Well this gotta be a joke: As powerful as the new monitor is... WTF $4999? And a stand not included but the stand alone costs $1K?
Damn man.
- "Pro" NOT "Prosumer"...
....*sigh*ideaist - I can afford the stand!nb
- this is going to be a big flop. What software are pro users going to run on such a powerful setup?shapesalad
- users that need amazing monitors and super power tend to be 3D peeps - who prefer nivida, octane and can get it all cheaper in PC form.shapesalad
- plus it looks shit. Doesn't look 'apple'. Looks more like a tacky Chinese version of a dell, designed for CPC members to use as a status symbol.shapesalad
- I will get jus the standzaq
- yeah too thick. as cool as it is, swivel feature is way too much for for writing code and designing websites._niko
- but, fuck how does it work without the stand?_niko
- just lean it against the wall? lol_niko
- don't worry, the first version is thick enough to stand without stand. lolapi
- Video people obviously. I know studios that are already placing orders.monospaced
- Vesa mounting is the intended use without the stand, apparently magnetically if you watch the video on the site.evilpeacock
- lol api_niko
- Who's fucking brilliant idea was it to price the stand at 1K. Jobs is starting a fucking mosh pit in his grave.davey_g
- rounding random numbers. or just whistling dixie outta my arse. but 2019 is clearly their most profitable year so far.********

Updated site is design/marketing perfection:
- their trash can Mac Pro website still for me was the best of their sites.shapesalad
- Yeah, this all builds on that feel/look, especially once you hammer down into a specific product/service.ideaist
- They still got itdrgs

Maybe this monitor is just too "Pro"?
$6K (with stand)???
I was hoping for a cool thin, sleek 32'' Apple Cinema Display for no more than $2K.
This feels overkill.
- 32" 2k??OBBTKN
- hey, on the bright side you can get 2 Apple Monitor stands for 2Kzaq
- They should do a lesser display option too; This is 6K, HDR, etc., which lots of folks won't appreciate or even need.evilpeacock

12 monitors connected to one keyboard. That is what people need.
- "If I asked the customer what they wanted, they would have said a horse with 12 monitors connected." - Henry Fordnb
- lololimbecile
- Lol. Use your imagination.
We had to custom build a machine like this for twice the price to run 10 4K streams for projection mapping!monospaced - So yeah. It’s LITERALLY what we needed.monospaced
- so something you've had to build once in your career and is a special use need should be put into production? shut the fuck up Benimbecile
- in fact, if you need 12 monitors connected to one machine, but can't build it yourself, you deserve whatever apple charges your dumb ass.imbecile
- first, the special use is one that is put into practice regularly, so it's not that special ...monospaced
- second, we DID build one ourselves and it cost a fortune and was massive ...monospaced
- third, I'm OBVIOUSLY not the only one who thinks this should be in production ...monospaced
- finally, congrats on ensuring everyone knows what a lowlife cunt you are with your repeated attempts to use my real name, which you get wrong each time idiotmonospaced

I think most people wants something between an iMac and a Mac Pro on a similar form factor as this new Mac Pro.
Not everybody needs a server grade processor (those Xeons cost a fortune) and neither up to 1,5TB of RAM. But they do want the top of the line i7/i9 with easy upgrades of add on cards, memory and storage.
But I don't think we'll get to see this one. These computers are basically for scientist or companies doing heavy video editing / 3D rendering.
- for reference this is a company that builds similar spec computers https://www.boxx.com… prices are quite similarernexbcn
- maybe this is giving back to the pro market that built up apple in the first place? I can see tv/movie studios and anim houses with deep pockets all over this_niko
- yeah totally, those guys have been waiting exactly for a thing like thisernexbcn
- It’s exactly for entertainment studios. Anyone who thinks it’s for consumer level stuff doesn’t get it.monospaced
- Price-wise it's completely what I expected; You can easily spend 10-20k on non-Apple stuff like this and if the iMac Pro starts at $5K, this would be more.evilpeacock

A small thing, but inventing "XDR" to make it sound better than HDR is very lame. (I'm curious if anyone at Apple ever says things like, "Um, hi, just want to point out that Steve would've NEVER let us call it that!") No need at all for that tacky XDR label, it's literally the only monitor they sell.
- what about retina? is another marketing term for hi dpi displaysernexbcn
- Yep, "Retina" is decent branding, as it sounds much better than "high dpi display" which no one understood at all at the time.nb
- HDR isn't quantitative. XDR is meaningless. Also EXTREEEEME.nb
- XDR sounds like an evolution of HDR, that's a good name for it. Better than Liquid Retina v Retina LOL.zarkonite

I like it when apple does weird space aged shit like this new Mac Pro. Was like when iOS went all fluoro coloured. The weirder the better imo.
