Apple clearly don't give a fuck about making machines for the specialist anymore. Now they want every cunt except the specialist to own one of their machines.
Which makes sense as a business. Deal with it.
- yep. I think they should have 2 clear divisions though as it makes no business sense to lose a whole market either. If they had their huge consumer division andfadein11
- then a smaller pro line which included really high spec macbook pros and upgradeable desktops every one is happy. But yes I agree with what you are saying.fadein11
- But their desktops are currently upgradable. Although it'd be nice to be able to yank out the CPU, yeah?Ianbolton
- upgradable to what extend?pango
- I thought the mac pros were not? The iMacs are not etc.fadein11
- ther e isn't a single mac on the market that is upgradable, I don't consider adding a fuckn dongle an upgrade!!GeorgesII
- That's true. also why I'm building my next Mac.monospaced
- I agree fadein********
- Cool - believe it or not I really dislike our feud. We would probably get on in real life :)fadein11
- But surely, as microtechnology kicks in further, the way a motherboard and CPU is engineered/integrate... upgrading is going to become more difficult.Ianbolton
- I've had my laptop seven years and it's only now that I really think an upgrade is needed. 7 years out of a laptop is pretty good yeah?Ianbolton
- You can upgrade harddrive and RAM on the macpro, right? What else would you need in there apart from a better GPU/CPU in 5 yearsIanbolton
- CPUs and GPUs are constantly evolving, it's bad design to make those un-upgradable. Upgrading ram is kind of useless, and the HDD is soldered on.zarkonite
- Bad design? as everything becomes integrated into one chip to make things faster and smaller, how is that a bad design? They've never been upgradeable in a MacIanbolton
- And you can buy a thunderbolt HDD running at faster than PCI speeds now anywayIanbolton
- For 3D, non-upgradable devices are a nonsense. Newer renderers rely on the GPU for grunt. Good luck running Octane on Apple's shitty, shitty, mobile GPU's.face_melter
- And good luck trying to get a 1080Ti equivalent for the Mac Pro.face_melter
- @ian, of course they've been upgradeable beforemonospaced
- @mono The CPU hasn't, has it? Name a model in which you could do this - post plastic iMac era at leastIanbolton
- GPU has always been available via PCI, but can this now be done via Thunderbolt? http://goo.gl/6L7IuN…Ianbolton
- Hello - every cunt is the specialist nowadays....see_thru

MagSafe is absolutely brilliant, and the only visible part of MacBook the competition cannot use in their laptops because of patents.
Whose MacBook wasn't saved by it, raise your hand.

Sure, out with it, there's a new plug in town!

Apple just needs to release their OS commercially (or open source) without any support. They opened sourced their Swift language and Darwin (the underlying system of OSX) is open source.
Most of the people who buy Macs are only in it for the OS. My hackintosh runs like a dream, but I keep an apple machine for App Store submissions since I'm paranoid. Otherwise, I'd run a hackintosh for everything.
I know it's a pipe dream, but I could see lots of people that wouldn't by a MBP shelling out the license fee for OSX. At maybe $199 or something. Especially desktop / laptop companies. Which could potentially equal the same sales they're getting for Macs.
Plus, they need people to develop for iOS. And you need macOS for that. If tomorrow is a flop, I'm gonna let my apple dev license expire in December, and say fuck it. I'll still have my hackintosh for osx builds, but no app store. Whatever.
- they tried that before ... it's just not their thingmonospaced

sorry apple but microsoft apparently still wants to allow me to make money
- looks really good to be fair.fadein11
- and microsoft now do Apple ads better than Apple.fadein11
- I'd be in the market for this.fadein11
- this is what the imac should have been********
- Bravo. Motherfucking bravo.sofakingback
- Maybe its credit to the great ad. Although they really didn't have to do that stupid paint explode that been done to death. Perfect song dohsofakingback
- WAKE UP SHEEAAPPLE********
- Pretty neato. That puck thing looks the absolute tits. Makes the iMac look like a fucking donkey.face_melter
- I'm a mac guy and this is outstanding. It jumps in price quite a bit for 16gb ram. I would love it but my children would destroy it in seconds.kona
- I've been waiting for apple to do this for so long, I give up, 3k sounds pretty fuckn goodGeorgesII
- Is Windows usable yet?i_monk
- Im a life long apple user. I had to use windows to design at a job for 2 years. it wasn't bad at all. I didn't do anything else on the computer though.sofakingback
- ^ yep and has been for donkeys aside from the odd mishap along the way :)fadein11
- why isn't apple suing them?pinkfloyd
- I created a thread for this, it deserves it lolernexbcn
- looks cool but that peripheral puck thing is stupid as fuck._niko
- +1 @i_monk.ideaist
- Windows is fine. I've been running W10 for almost a year and have yet to have any problems - with any of my design programs - CC, C4D, Vray, Arnold.face_melter
- I rarely get a chance to use Win, but the last few times it's felt clunky and unintuitive.i_monk
- Looks amazing. Hopefully the OS is good and I'd be down. I think they could have made the video equally as nice while maintaining brand originality.********
- amazing, can I run osx on it?
If so, I'm on boardMiguex - That puck seems unnecessarydesmo
- mono jumps out windowutopian
- Windows File Explorer is still Fugly and is as bloated as MS WORDerr
- if apple had that puck thing you'd all be hating on it.inteliboy
- still no palm detectionHayoth
- The puck looks silly. And hey look, the keyboard Apple has been phasing out.raf
- I have been using windows for design at my work and I hate it with all of my heartscruffics
- Great tool for drawing rainbows!SimonFFM
- lol at hating an operating system in 2016. It's not like it breaks into your house, fucks your dog and shits in the fridge.face_melter
- @Hayot oh yes it does have Palm rejectionmekk
- as a mac user for almost 20 years, this would probably be enough to make me get one.. but i am not sure i could handle the OSautoflavour
- @utopian, at least try not to look like a trollmonospaced
- I like the idea of the puck, but it remains to be seen how useful it really is.i_monk

This was a perfectly timed announcement (Surface Pro) if the new updated iMac announced tomorrow isn't anything close to this, well... it's great to see MS doing these things.

Touch screen imac at the very least Apple? yeah right.
Probably an Apple pay button and they are done.
Living off Steve Jobs ideas from 10 years ago. GREAT JOB APPLE

- This is what happens when a computer numbers guy from IBM takes lead in a company that's suppose to be innovative.pinkfloyd
- Not sure the iMac is the best for touch. More likely they keep that to the iOS only. Personally I don't want to touch my iMac screen.monospaced
- i do********
- anyways, on to surface studio********
- I've always wondered why Apple refused to make a touchscreen laptop. If you can, why wouldn't you? Mono doesn't have to use it, but it is a nice option.formed
- Probably because they have the iPad.monospaced

Well, the patented a touch iMac that turned into iOS when reclined, take it as you will...
The year is 2010.
- so they patented a hinge?fadein11
- lolernexbcn
- I think he's pointing out that it's a lot like the Surface unit in that it converts to a tabletop touch screen and back to a desktop display.monospaced
- When was the last time that Apple innovated at anything besides acquiring patents and stealing others ideas?utopian
- crillix2
Yeah I agree on the Surface Studio announcement, well timed indeed. I was expecting Apples event tomorrow to be a long over due refresh of their product line to get it up to current specs with a few gimmicky things for candy. Now however it feels like they don't come out with at least something interesting, they are going to fall a little flat.

Apple's Tim Cook has been saying the exact same thing about TV for years

A Wednesday statement, given to Ars Technica just one day ahead of the company's latest Mac-related press event, confirmed Apple's decision to delay the wireless headphones' launch. In the statement, Apple tells Ars that the company "needs a little more time before AirPods are ready for our customers."

Apple has become the new Microsoft. Every fucker has one of their products, and most of them don't really work that well.
- Are apple products not working well? Everything I own works great and syncs perfectly. I've only had one issue and it was repaired for free years after buying.sofakingback
- They have come out with meh products for sure... but thats its own thing right.sofakingback
