Actually just hooked up with a girl last night from OKC. Hung out a couple times - hit her up after my work's holiday party last night. Signed up while drunk about 2 weeks ago.
- You hit a girl?qTime
- Totally. I'm all about that shit.duckseason
- hook up = sex?********

I had some good dates on dharmamatch but honestly I have met more lets say stable women on meetup. I think meetup.com is much better then the dating sites.
Dating sites are over -rated, expensive and time consuming. Your better of going to a place of interest where you already have something in common with the people that are there.
- yeah I'm having a hell of a time finding someone with shared interests in so cafourth

thanks guys for dharmamatch. wish I had the energy to fill out another profile! but I'm wiped

Did it once, after trying to chat with like 6 girls and reaching nowhere this girl appeared and we chatted for hours, then we met in person for a coffee. Ended up being like 2 years with her.
So yes, it can work.
- I was looking for a proper relationship not just hooking up, I think the other girls wanted just to fuckernexbcn

^it's weird man I've sent probably about two dozen messages out there. got zilch back. today was Plenty of fish day #3- the day where I drop my standards by a bit to see if I can get any nibbles. Nothing yet!
- from what I hear, that site is more about dating for sport. Lots of insecure people out there looking for validation.monNom
- not to say anything bad about people who've met someone there, but the barrier to entry is very low. like craigslist.monNom
- My buddy met his wife on Craigslist, believe it or not...all luck, don't matter where/when/why/howformed
- funkage0
Not a personal experience but a close family friend has been happily married to her husband she met via a dating agency. Not online per se but these things can work.

It is all luck. Any dating site, regardless of which one, is just a small cross section of society. You have surgeons and waitresses, lawyers and teachers, models, average, etc., etc.
Best story I have is my buddy met his wife on Craigslist. Some bizarre things like they both read the same book and searched, something clicked, and bingo, been married 3 years now.
You just never know, certainly more possibilities than meeting someone at a bar or hoping your friend brings a friend that brings a friend next time you are out.

super curious guys.... cause like the biggest issue most guys have is sending messages to girls and NOT hearing back....
what are you guys emailing these girls?
- duckseason0
^
Usually just some random silly shit that pertains to something they wrote about themselves in their profile. I don't take it too seriously. Probably have heard back from about 75% or so.

Don't waste you time, the world ends in 2 days.

I met a few good people online dating.
There are a few things to be aware of:Everybody is trying to punch above their weight on there. So if your not good looking enough, forget it.
Kinda catch 22 but you have to send out 100s of mails as a lot of girls don't bother to even read them as they get so many!
If you just target one or two who appear to be interesting you'll probably get nothing back.
Its all a numbers game.

I just used OKC and it worked well for the most part.

hmm.... got a few friends who do it, they message girls and never hear anything back.
still super curious to see what you guys say that gets you all these responses...
- fourth0
dconstrukt, I have received one response. Like I said, with a girl with a lot of common interests. And isn't fat/ugly (from what I can tell). We don't have a date till Jan when she gets back from break. Until then I've wasted a lot of time emailing back and forth 3 paragraph emails. I'm going to be upset if we meet and don't click at all. The only reason I got a response is because I am an outdoor person, so is she, and where we live there isn't anyone like that around. Mostly fake so cal girls.
Anyway, other than that I've received 0 responses from anyone else. I've dropped my standards, dropped them even further, sent super creative messages, overly sexual messages, sent messages to single elderly lonely moms, even racial slurs to elicit any response, and have received zilch back. It's so depressing that such boring, unoriginal, uninteresting women can pretty much rule the online dating world.
The funny/sad/ironic part is now I totally think going out in real life would be a lot easier to pull chicks.
- agree 100%BabySnakes
- there are a lot of fake profiles (bots) on dating sitespablo28

^ you're probably right. Online profiles are a terrible way to sum up a person. The most dishonest people are going to look like the best catch.
- fourth0
^well not only that but 99% of the girls I see are just straight up boring/worthless but want absolute perfection. 99% of the profiles are "hey I like to laugh, have a good time, hang out with friends, (other obvious generic shit)" followed by "please don't send me a generic message, or 'hey ur hot wanna fuck??'".
And I sit there for a couple of minutes. look at their pictures. Read the profile again looking for some type of creative spark that will generate something witty or creative or attractive. And after 10 minutes the only thing I can remotely come up with is 'hey your hot want to fuck??' and now I know why guys send these messages because what the fuck else do we have to work with?
