Re-open QBN user registration?

Come on... wasn't this a temporary thing to stop some spammer?
This is becoming an internet village of inbred graphic designers(?) looking at COTD, POTD, VOTD, MILF's and curvy chicks, something something freddddd and scarabin or what/whoever...
We need some new people in here. If not new blood, then at least some different weirdoes.

that would mean more monitoring from the powers above, or some tweaking to the code, and that is too much work to spend on this very useless site that drives no traffic whatsoever.
If vimeo embed is too much to ask for, some kind of tweaking to the registration process must be like an impossible feature. Like Filter, that's something impossible to achieve too...

I think it was spam bots so they needed to work out some way of stopping them from getting on here. Not sure what happened there.
My suggest would be a sub-forum that would act as a probation area that noobs have to go into. After a short period of posting in this a few mods that have the power to grant access to the main community when they are certain they are real people with something to offer.
I've seen that work on other forums and it works a treat.

ESKEMA's assessment rings pretty true in my head. Before they shut the door, the spam threads equaled the real threads on the first page of the PV. Closing registration required the least amount of effort. i suppose if enough people complained/petitioned, they'd open it back up, but they certainly wouldn't fix anything. It'd just be another empty action to get people to stop bugging them.

Regarding Alexa traffic - daily page views down 12%, avg time on site down 20%, page bounces up 6% and overall rank down 20,730. Could this be a byproduct of less keyword spam and more posts that simply feature pages of images and videos?
There was a time when the posts and pages were full of discussion threads, now it's mostly threads full of animated gifs and images. People just aren't sticking around and engaging like they used to I guess.

Giving control of this site to the community is just right out of the question? Some of us devs could fix issues in a weekend with some git access to QBN source to push changes. </dreams>
