While Balimer was CEO of Microsoft, the company more than tripled their profits and doubled revenue. The next guy better do just as well if not better.
Tripled profits and doubled revenue. I don't care what anyone says that right there is fucking amazing. Especially when the company was already huge!!!! A start up tripling profit while growing etc. is pretty damn good but a company already well established like microsoft being able to triple profit is pretty insane!!! especially as they haven't really got a phone or much mobile traction!!! I wonder what will happen in the future. Windows 8 is shite though.
- Yes, but have you read up on what that uptick in profits actually represents? Nothing to do with quality product..detritus

Wow, he did all that in a short, 13-year career as CEO! Give him a medal.
- Meanwhile, Apple (a startup, obviously) doubled profits/revenue every year for years.monospaced
- and in 1/3 of the timemonospaced
- mono. not a apple fan.pango
- I am not as much of a fan as much as I am a user who has made a living with their products for a decademonospaced
- I don't own the newest and greatest from them, but I do respect their philosophy and designmonospaced
- and they're the easiest to compare to a company like Microsoft... and if you look below, I'm not the only one.monospaced
- i know. i'm just stating the obvious.pango
- then why don't you go call randommail a fanboy too, he said the exact same thing below heremonospaced
- my apology lol I couldn't help my self to try to get a reaction from you. hugs :( xxoo we're cool?pango
- for the record I did not call you a fan boy. lolpango

13 years... so basically Ballmer just rode the wave of the Internet boom. And still managed to fail the company. Frankly, I'm surprised that Microsoft, hasn't grown bigger and faster than it has, regardless of who was managing it. Doubling revenue - that's all ??
By the way, Steve Jobs was CEO for about 13 years upon his return to Apple. And for half of that time, he had cancer!

Can you guys list what microsoft actually sell?
- chossy0
ukit The second graph you posted certainly isn't profits. because if it was then the green part would be three times the size :D but it's cool man you go ahead and post graphs with no clue as to what the y value is.
- chossy0
and neither does the third :( you should post up one that shows something three times bigger than something else :D

I think the problem is more of a long term one, that Microsoft is still dependent on the same products since before Ballmer became CEO. Their attempts to launch something new have pretty much all failed: Zune, Windows Phone, and now the failure of the Surface tablet.
