why contact information should be on the back of a brochure. It's a 4 page brochure (one fold). Basically a pamphlet. This fucking secretary is asking me to put it all on the front... email address, phone, fax, website URL, and it really cheapens the look of an otherwise nice clean design.
I can't seem to word it right. It just doesn't look right to have that stuff on the front cover. How would you word it? I need to be able to convince a dolt insensitive to the subtleties of design.

do you answer your creative solutions to the secretary or the client whom you have a contract with?

- This is a tiny job and am doing it as a favor to someone because they helped me out.iCanHazQBN
- Small company, like 4 employees, and she's the one who emailed me asking for this brochure.iCanHazQBN

You're the designer and she's not?
- She wouldn't understand that concept. That's the issue I'm running into.iCanHazQBN
- Can she understand that she can just design the fucking thing herself?monospaced

Put her in the trenches; give her your seat and free reign with Indesign/Illustrator.

Sounds like you didn't establish at the start that you are the man... so you can't expect them to listen now.
Learn your lesson !!

- this was a small side job that took 8 hours to complete, and all communication was done through email.iCanHazQBN
- I'm not exactly going to go through a normal, lengthy, or contractual process with this.iCanHazQBN
- "All communication was done through email". For some reason I read 'email' as 'smell' which made that hilarious.identity

Your other option is to add it to the front, but make it look good. Be a designer.

I'm just going to advise against it, see what she says.... then if she pushes back one more time I'll just put it on the front and move on.

Innovate your brochure to have TWO fronts, and ask the secretary what to do...
- Like an inception pop-up book. I think you're on to something.iCanHazQBN

The part of her email that really got me was the end...
"Thanks Bunches! :)"
Kill yourself. And take me with you.

I think you kind of nailed it on the head with your first comment.
"..and it really cheapens the look of an otherwise nice clean design."
Tell her this and maybe say "People will read the brochure front to back. Having the contact info in the front will force people to backtrack to the beginning and search for it. So it's been designed conveniently at the end so they can easily find it once they're done."
lol at the marissa mayer photo above. haha!

"Recent studies out of Oxford show that an overwhelming 93% of brochure viewers will place the brochure face-down after looking at it. By placing this critical info on the back, we are actually putting it on the the front."
- brilliant!

Put the contact info on the front but inform her that there is no longer room for the front on the front, and that you'll have to put the front on the back. You've still got your nice front (on the back) and she's got her info that should be on the back on the front.

haha. so you are getting orders from the one person in the office that everyone gives orders too!
i guess she sees this as her chance to boss someone around
