I have developed such a passion reading news and articles about cameras, i'm on this since almost 2 years I think, Im sure i could now work in a camera shop, i have the knowledge. that makes me think that when you put time daily on something during 1 or 2 years, you become good at it.

I bought an old Kodak EasyShare C300 on eBay for 8$. It has those old CCD sensors on it, it's a digital camera from 2005. Only 3mpx.
Strangly, those old digital cameras produce pictures that could look like film, because the lens is soft, the whites are over exposed, there's noise on the picture and the colors are bland.
There's a photographer in the US that shoots only with old digital cameras for that reason, check an interview here: https://www.dpreview.com/intervi…
Now the problem is I need a plain SD card (less than 256mb) to use it, and those cards are hard to find OR there's 16mb of internal memory but i need a cable, just bought one for 2$ ... will need to wait for that cable to see the pictures I took!

- depends on what you want. if you move the light closer to her the background will turn darker.pango
- i personally prefer if you have a white bounce reflector on the left of her so the shadows aren't so hard.pango
- You need some fill on the right, white card or a reflector. You could also try a bigger soft box which will wrap the light around more and give a softer edge..RumperChunk
- Nice job tho for first crack ;)RumperChunk
- thank you. I will try a reflector before adding a second light. I'd like to try and somewhat master the single light setup first.HijoDMaite
- Nothing wrong with it. Both eyes are lit. It's all preferencepango
- Fill is nice. Reduce shadow and gives her left side a bit of outline. You can use 2nd light with same logic.pango
- You can also move the light further away from her. This will make background more lit. Creating out line for her left side again.pango
- i'm sorry, you won't love it:

What are some good sites that showcase photography? Not interested in anything that talks about cameras or gear, nor blogs aimed at amateurs trying to "make it" as a photographer. There are plenty of those out there, I'm not interested.
Looking for just great photography and/or photographers being interviewed about art photography.
- Morning_star2
@nb, a couple of sites that may tickle you fancy.

Quite enjoyed this, they get some good shots and it's quite well edited. The 360 shots are a fun addition too.

I want to rebuild my online portfolio, I make photography in these categories: plants/flowers/mushrooms, wildlife, street, landscape, 'artsy' ....
Should I classify my pictures by category or should I make only one and mix things up to create a nice set of images to looks at?
- perhaps categorical but concept-based? like, i have a variety of street portfolios but divided by place or time. you seem to favor nature, perhaps there'scolin_s
- a way to sub-divide by a more specific theme? something that gives them a feeling of personal authorship instead of just "here are photos of plants"colin_s
- Yeah i could make that!Bennn
- whatever you do have the "artsy" category ;)renderedred
- i will lolBennn
