The flag isnt' important right now FFS!
It's just a flag. The independence of a nation is beyond a piece of fabric right now.- this is a design forum, bromonospaced
- this is a Scottish independence thread, sir ;)benfal99
- Obviously.********
- Of course it's relevant. It affects over 60 million people not just Scotlandbabaganush
- Essentially it affects the whole world********

"It has not escaped the notice of us, your cousins from across the seas, that much of the case made by the Scottish Yes campaign is neatly described by our fuzzy 1980 question. “Sovereignty” but maintaining “an economic association”? Check. A new country, but also a plan to “negotiate a new agreement” with the old nation? Check. A Yes vote portrayed as promising co-operation rather than a severing of ties? Check. And the idea that you can leave but keep the currency? Sorry, we’ve heard this song before."

I think it's pretty clearly going to be no based on the polls. A 4-6 percent difference doesn't sound like much, but that's a pretty big gap in a country of millions of people.

I thought I was the flag freak!
Oh well...Interesting read that Canadian article.
Hm...first council went NO!- The canadian newspapers are pretty polarized when it comes to separation.zarkonite

One of the best record labels ever, when it comes to indie music, comes from Scotland: Postcard.
We always liked to say that a certain band was edited by Postcard from Scotland.
One would never say just Postcard.
Postcard from Scotland.
Beautiful.

So how are the votes counted? Is it the total number of votes or is it by district? The BBC is announcing results such as ""No" wins by 10,544 to 9,195." for every area as if it were a winner take all system?
- futuremongolian0
well, shite.

As if England would let go of things just like that... Please, you have too much faith in the "democratic process." In case you didn't know it's the one counting the votes that's making the call not the people.
- You do know its not over right? they could still win a YES vote. Only the ones with the oil have said NO so far lolsem
- Vague conspiracy theorist alertbabaganush
- As if the people in power would actually let the people decide. Wake up.********

Wasn't the oil a big part of the separatist argument? What happens now that those with the oil on their land want to stick it with England? Do you think the separatists would have enough integrity to let them do so and go their separate way?
