I was just wondering, for those possessing a drivers license,
do you think you would be able to drive an 18 Wheeler?if you ever drove one, can you tell me if it's easy or hard,
Thanks

You have to have a special license to drive an 18 wheeler.

I was a truck driver in the army. I have C and E licences. It took me two months to learn and pass the test. 18 whellers are a bit different than regular trucks. It shouldn't be that difficult to learn tho...

@renderedred, cool man I wish I could drive <||:P
do you think I'll be able to drive a 18 wheeler even though I failed my driving license?
I know my questions are stupid, but I want to know if it's possible and how easy it would be for someone with no or limited basic knowledge
- I wonder if Mohamed Atta posted the same question about planesGnash
- Even though you failed to get a standard license? Probably not dude.section_014

Depends on the rig. Volva and Mercedes have rigs that are auto that practically drive themselves. Otherwise get familiar with an enormous transmition of a dozen or so gears to shift through managing the incredible amounts of momentum. On the highway its pretty smooth sailing, once you have to venture into cities and towns it gets pretty nerve racking though, plus the no-truck roads that are poorly indicated. Gotta buy a GPS specifically for trucks to combat that last issue. Company I drove for were cheap fucks though

hey gilgamush,
how long were you a trucker for? and what are the main difference between a big ass truck and as small car?

i drove a 5 ton dump truck for a little over a year and a half before i quit due to the owner dicking around with my money. He thought it was ok to pay me late constantly, and i am talking weeks late every time. the main difference is the constant down shifting when in traffic, you can't just hit the brakes. also, no rearview mirror means you have to learn how big the truck is by feel, all you have are side mirrors and the round spot mirrors. the acceleration is shit, so people are always trying to cut you off, they don't realize that you have a shit ton of momentum and can't just hit the brakes. also, the drivers seat makes all the difference in the world, after driving a cab-over truck for hours, which means the wheels are right below where you sit, you feel every little bump and your ass will be very unhappy if you have a shitty seat. 16 wheeler seats tend to be air ride and not cab-over layout so they are a little better but i remember when i was in europe i saw a good deal of cab-over semi tractor trailers and that would be hellish to drive all day. i have heard from my uncle who used to drive a semi that when you have an empty trailer the wind can be scary as fuck as the trailer acts as a big sail with no weight in it which sounds quite unpleasant. otherwise, the obvious stuff, like having to take stupidly wide turns and city driving being extremely nerve racking for the first six months. what's this all about anyways, why the fascination
