    Oh the stupidity....

French skunk Pepe Le Pew will not appear in an upcoming "Space Jam" sequel and is not planned to feature in any new "Looney Tunes" cartoons, sources familiar with the productions told AFP, as a debate swirls over sexism and "cancel culture" in Hollywood.

The lovelorn cartoon animal -- who spends most of his time in luckless pursuit of a female cat who is repelled by his advances and noxious smell -- hit the headlines last week after a New York Times columnist said Pepe "normalized rape culture."

    ...

At the launch of streaming platform HBO Max last year, "Looney Tunes Cartoons" producer Peter Browngardt said cartoon hunter Elmer Fudd would no longer tote a rifle, telling The New York Times: "We're not doing guns."

    The Miseducation of America’s Elites

Tl;td: elite $50,000-tuition prep schools teach their students that everything in life is explained by your skin color. Black multimillionaire students are taught that they are inherently oppressed because they are black, white students are taught that they are racists from birth etc.

    ==========
"All of this “has made me think about race more,” said one teen boy in Manhattan. The curriculum, he explained, was trying to teach him to feel obsessed with his whiteness, the opposite of what his parents had taught him to do. Making students separate out by race in affinity groups is racist, he said. “MLK would condemn my school.”

Some students are rebelling, which, in this case, looks like becoming a Republican. But others go all-in on the ideology, which has created conflicts with parents who don’t. “The school has taken over as the moral guide, with me being the irritating person in the background who doesn’t really get it,” says one Harvard-Westlake mother.

So children learn how the new rules of woke work. The idea of lying in order to please a teacher seems like a phenomenon from the Soviet Union. But the high schoolers I spoke with said that they do versions of this, including parroting views they don’t believe in assignments so that their grades don’t suffer."
    //==========

One of the teachers at one of these schools has resigned her position:
    https://bariweiss.substack.com/p…
    ==========
"What passes for “progressive” today at Smith and at so many other institutions is regressive. It taps into humanity’s worst instincts to break down into warring factions, and I fear this is rapidly leading us to a very twisted place. It terrifies me that others don’t seem to see that racial segregation and demonization are wrong and dangerous no matter what its victims look like. Being told that any disagreement or feelings of discomfort somehow upholds “white supremacy” is not just morally wrong. It is psychologically abusive.

Equally troubling are the many others who understand and know full well how damaging this is, but do not speak out due to fear of professional retaliation, social censure, and loss of their livelihood and reputation. I fear that by the time people see it, or those who see it manage to screw up the moral courage to speak out, it will be too late."
    //==========

Soviet paralysis is when everyone says one thing, but thinks something else, and no one can break this evil circle in fear of being shamed, even if they know that other people think the same.
Soviet communism was a beautiful idea on paper, but essentially it was a 70 years long period of "pretending to be".

You cannot blame the woke minority for how Americans got here, this is like saying that Nazism corrupted German people in 1930s. The masses are also to blame. In all humans there is an immanent base for corruption, consisting of several components:
desire for justice, two skills which we develop in childhood to avoid being punished by parents -- lying and self-deception, desire to build a hierarchy, desire to shame someone for violation of morality etc.
Because the goals of one individual's biology are stronger than the goals of society, ie. your own safety is more important than wellbeing of the society, and this is how this order reinforces itself.

There is a number of stories in America where professors who pretended to be black or latino, while actually being Jewish or Anglo-Saxon, have been fired/canceled/deplatformed, because it's cultural appropriation of someone else's identity. Men who do the same by appropriating female identity (trans), are not canceled. What is the difference?

Richard Dawkins loses ‘humanist of the year’ title for asking this question on twitter
    https://twitter.com/RichardDawki…
    https://www.theguardian.com/book…

Generally people get fired immediately for asking such questions. Don't ask questions which are forbidden.

    • yawn. fuck I hate twitter.inteliboy
    • How do people still not understand how one thing is a choice and another isn’t!?monospaced
    • Female identification isn’t a culture being appropriated. It’s a sexuality being expressed. It’s innate. It’s part of who they are down to biology.monospaced

^"Pretending to be what you are not for personal gain is totally different. You’d have to be a special kind of ignorant fuck to compare them as equal."

That's the problem -- there is no way to question the pretending ones and it's impossible to beat the trans/blm lobby because they will always be able to fend off any attack to their favor.

Both transgenderism and BLM have the same function -- to redistribute capital and power (best examples are from academic circles, people fighting for best positions etc):

People steal/appropriate blackness (or use their race card, which can be fine) in order to gain specific opportunities & social capital.

The transgender-platform is designed to capture organizational resources from feminists and gays: https://www.theguardian.com/educ…
    https://leiterreports.typepad.co…

By gays^ I mean lesbians who refuse to fuck m2f transgenders. We don't hear much about gay men who refuse to fuck f2m's, mainly because f2m's don't stand up for themselves in the same way as m2f's (naturally because they are women). Similarly with transgenders in sports (there are no f2m's competing with biological men, the news headlines are always about biological men competing against women). Trans-movement is strongly skewed in favor of biological men (m2f's).

The main weapon of the Spanish Inquisition is not surprise, but to pass off a financial issue as an ethical one. Any campaign for morality and ethical purity is of the same nature, busy redistributing capital.

Ethics itself is a financial question: "which distribution of resources is the most fair?"

The hypocrisy is that fighters for a fair division of resources somehow always end up having more than what is fair:
    https://nypost.com/2021/04/10/in…

They fought for rights, which means that they are justly entitled to more rights than those for whose rights they fought -- in the same way bankers are justly entitled to more money than their depositors.

    • There’s definitely a way to question if a Jewish guy is black or Hispanic. But I 100% see your point.monospaced
    • I don’t think it’s fair to reduce legitimate social issues to a mere capital power struggle. That would be ignoring a lot of actual humanity involved in trans Mmonospaced
    • To claim that a person is trans because it benefits them is pretty ignorant. Not sure if this is me misinterpreting this though.monospaced
    • There are trans who are fighting for their rights, which is distributing power, in general, which is okdrgs
    • There are probably some trans who are in it for personal benefits (always m2f's, like men in prison etc), but this was not my pointdrgs
    • My point was that the discourse which is built around blm/trans makes it possible to introduce the broadest censorship, to control any free individualdrgs
    • This censorship gives shelter to all kinds of parasitesdrgs
    • “In an unfair system, underdogs are always the good guys.” Is a bias.cannonball1978

    >Last year, the author JK Rowling returned an award given to her by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights organisation, after its president, Kennedy’s daughter Kerry Kennedy, criticised her views on transgender issues.
“I am deeply saddened that RFKHR has felt compelled to adopt this stance, but no award or honour, no matter my admiration for the person for whom it was named, means so much to me that I would forfeit the right to follow the dictates of my own conscience,” said Rowling in a statement at the time.

Everyone who's scratching his/her head at this PC madness, MUST read Thomas Sowell's "Intellectuals and Society" - this provides historical context and countless examples of significant waves within society that blew up in some people's faces just as this craziness will. Because it goes deep into history, it will make you feel good to realize that this nonsense is nothing new. There were always huge groups of madmen willing to embrace loony ideas.

    https://www.amazon.com/Intellect…

    • it's an overcompensation for the human condition. we need a baseline approach to how people treat eachother, something a child can understand - and go from therSteveJobs
    • a child understands already, everyone tries to teach that child how to live and that causes confusions throughout generations.uan
    • As someone who has young kids and see other parents strange ways, I'm not sure there is such a thing as "baseline".pr2
    • Things that appear immediately good, blow up in people's faces in "long run," and vice versa. I have countless first-hand accounts of that.pr2
    • i'd classify baseline as things that lead to the mutual happiness of self and others. being selfless, considerate, honest, compassionate, etc. - all easy to do.SteveJobs
    • it's what we know deep down to be right as it resonates with us. do your best and assume the best of others in spite of our imperfections. rinse, repeat.SteveJobs

Do you think that white people using the lighter shade emojis in apps like Slack or WhatsApp instead of the default yellow ones is a bit off?

I totally get the representation of minorities in emoji sets and the use of them and am glad my black colleagues are represented.

But I cautiously stick to the default, being white. It just feels inappropriate to consciously choose a lighter skin tone.

I know it’s only an emoji. Nobody’s losing sleep over it. Just curious.

    • yellow is a waysist term.teh
    • I'm not a Pacman so I choose a closer shade to my own. Except when I think it's amusing to needlessly appropriate a darker shade than my own.Nairn
    • Ultraviolet tends not to be well-represented in these things, so gingers gotta ginge.Nairn
    • I don't find the white emoji, white enough for my likings. Certainly need to get some sun this yearIanbolton
    • Yeah, needs Irish-British Blue in there too.

    • I guess I see deliberately choosing the white emoji as slightly aligned with the ‘white lives matter too’ mentality. But you clearly don’t so not condemning it.mort_
    • I mean having different skin tone emojis is clearly about more than everyone getting their own skin tone.mort_
    • Maybe if you're body positive albinodrgs

    • @Ian Yes I’m white.mort_
    • mort_ - then surely the same can be said for any given type to choose their own? Why fret it? It's crueller to have all been forced with Yellow.Nairn

I though it's some satirical joke so i had to look it up to confirm that it's real. Yes, childish colorful drawings with some childish little girl voice to recruit future "warriors":

Just as i read Thomas Sowell's "Intellectuals and Society" chapter about WWII and how the strongest military in Europe (French) folded to Hitler's Germany in just a few weeks because their soldiers were raised on come beginning-of-century woke pacifism.

    • gotta get them when they're young. they have used video games for recruitment. doesn't seem far off.pango
    • also as recruitment standards keep going up, the eligible young males' pool are getting smaller and smaller. hence the female recruitment.pango
    • as for the french, you need to consider they were at many wars. it costs the society a lot of money and stress on the general public. anyone would grow tired ofpango
    • wars eventually.pango
    • why do you think every US president election every candidate were promising to pull out of X war.pango
    • the point is that wars are fought and won not only with weapons but ALSO a spirit. The French have lost that fighting spirit during WWII (despite weapons).pr2
    • The same loss of fighting spirit is visible here where to attract the future "warriors" you use childish images, VO and symbols.pr2
    • Gotta get them interested when they're young. Otherwise college might be a better I deal when they get older.pango
    • What's this spirit you're talking about?pango
    • Idea*pango
    • Good time to stop funding the military.Gnash
    • good idea but hard. any us senate who says that, will stop receiving campaign funding from weapon manufactures.pango
    • the spirit that drives us to sacrifice - something so worthy of the cause, that we risk putting our lives on the line.pr2
    • here in this cartoon this concept is purposefully camouflaged by childish colors and VO.pr2
    • I question if whoever signs up based on this version of "reality" will ever be ready for the sort of sacrifice army historically calls for.pr2
    • first of all who do you think the target audience is? and I still don't get this 'spirit you're talking about. how would you visualize it if you are to pitch itpango
    • Using cartoons for this is wildly innappropriate. What the fuckscarabin
    • We can’t use cartoons to sell tobacco but we can use it to urge idiot kids to become murderers?scarabin
    • Exactly. +Showing how she got dragged into politics when she was just a kid is a very bad idea.sted
    • "Raised by 2 moms... who also wanted to fight for their country when they were my age but the army told them that lesbians are lesser people & can't be heroes"nb
    • Her story is true. The voice is hers. It's showing how "anyone" can be in the military. And the military is allowed to recruit, after all. Not just to meatheadsmonospaced
    • Cartoon is cool, but not really appropriate for this audience, I agree.monospaced
    • By showing that "anyone" can be in the army, you implicitly discourage those who might have real interest in this profession.pr2
    • Her voice doesn't sound like that to anyone around her in real life, just as yours doesn't sound the same when recorded.pr2
    • To use this childish-sounding voice was some creepy choice.pr2
    • her holding proverbial "peace" & "love" sign is the ultimate hypocrisy showing truly Machiavellian forces behind this cartoon.pr2
    • I agree, pr2.MondoMorphic
    • @pr2 u got that reaching out to young people was the goal here. which cannot be accomplished by bloodshed and the reality of war.sted
    • That's her voice tho. Is she not good enough for the military for you?pango
    • @pr2 ahaha yess that is the biggest contradiction in these two and half minutes of WTFsted
