There's nothing secret about NYC and everything is on the web. Everything, one way or another. Maybe not on tourist / travel sites, but it's out there.
- that's true of everything though, not just nyc ... really not helpfulmonospaced

ok, so i am meeting a buddy on the friday, he's coming over from NJ.
he's taking us to a place called fogo de chao! looks good on the website, just wondered if any of you chaps have been?
thanks
- fogo is yummm... then it again I've had hit or miss moments at their Scottsdale location (depends on which chef is working)... but yeah... yum :)PonyBoy
- I've been there. Nobody was able to go drinking afterward, which was originally the plan. Major food comas all around ;)monospaced
- haha sounds impressive, website looks impressive! i love meat (but dont tell everyone)cruddlebub

- right ok... so small amounts of everthing? good to knowcruddlebub
- yeah, pace yourself, and avoid the starches at the salad bar ... it's a bbq place, focus on expensive meat :)monospaced
- ok, nail the expensive bits. not potatoes and no bread... cool.cruddlebub

You can't leave NYC without a proper pastrami sandwich. Of course there's Katz deli where you can't go wrong, but I prefer one of the city's Jewish delis. Check out 2nd Avenue deli to split a sandwich and an order of fries. http://www.2ndavedeli.com
One morning, get a bagel. My favorite is from Ess-a-bagel, but H&H is also good. http://www.ess-a-bagel.com
On Friday or Saturday mornings it's nice to walk through Union Square and browse the farmer's market before it gets too crowded.
There's a little spot near the South Street Seaport called Stone Street that's great for an outdoor brew and snack outdoors. It's not crowded with tourists, and it's a great place to stop if you visit the World Trade Center, which I recommend.
- those are good calls, shit forgot about all of thatdrake-von-drake

Any advice is appreciated, and not really high dining or majorly romantic! Some proper dirty, fatty, bbq grub! Anything that tastes of America! Haha the lady is talking about doing the standard things, like Statue of Liberty, museums, Empire State... The standard touristy things! Doesn't need to be "hipster" just things we shouldn't miss, were cool and easy going and not afraid of trying new things!
She wants to take a helicopter ride also
- don't even bother with statue of liberty or empire state, in my opinion... you get better views from a helicopter of both I'd say :)monospaced
- I live 2 blocks from the Empire State and I've never even been up to the top. :/monospaced
- ^ that's fairly typical though ah haha ha. I lived in NYC for 5 years and never want to either. LOLdrake-von-drake
- anytime, I hear "the lady" I think... ok, this dude is gonna be dragged around for a bit. no offense... ;-)drake-von-drake
- True! She drags me here and there! And I don't mind! As long as I can do somethings I want to docruddlebub
- Empire States building- is sort of cool after 1 am- It's open till 2am- no lines, no screaming kids. Just girls looking for Tom Hanks.BH26
- ^^ good attitude, you'll survive. Mix in a beer or two even at the dumb shit places. Ha!drake-von-drake

Walk the high line and drop down to street level to check out all the art galleries in Chelsea. (20-30's) Walk through Greenwich, Soho, East Village, LES, Chinatown. Nice Old School restaurant- The Odeon- Warhol, Deniro, Keitel- guys like that hang or used to there.
Hit Williamsburg for a nice view of the city, N10th & Kent
you can play Halloween or Williamsburg in the first person
http://halloweenorwilliamsburg.t…Robertas restaurant is still holding it down in Bushwick. (pizza) tons of new Graff- since everything has been gentrified and 5ptz closed.
Have fun -

I can start to make a list of some more local things for you, but in the meantime my main suggestion would be to start with avoiding Times Square and Penn Station areas altogether. They are crappy tourist traps, and Times Square is only worth gawking at for 2 minutes unless you must go through it for a Broadway show.
For food and sights, are you looking for more upscale or romantic things since it's your honeymoon, or are you looking for the spicy hole-in-the-wall noodle shops and hot dog joints with speakeasy in the back?
- Yeah? Thanks, that would be super helpfulcruddlebub
- oh yeah, crif dogs! do that.johnny_wobble
- Nothing too upscale, just good tasting, locals favs, good eatin'!!!cruddlebub
- pixellette0
Well all the places I mention are on the web but whatever, trying to help.
But I would look into some restaurants and make reservations. There's a million Michelin/James Beard places here.

*Stuffy & pricy but the food was phenomenal
I really liked Traif too.
http://traifny.com/- BTW Traif is in Williamsburgpixellette
- Cheers!! Will have a proper lookcruddlebub

None of the good places are on the web.
