Awesome locations, brilliant cinematography and terrific art production, very suitable for the big screen. Imo, it's a big yes, get your tickets!
Katherine Waterston may be able to take care of the role much like Sigourney Weaver. Nice approach to the genesis of the xenomorph. I really enjoyed the whole thing.. even some ridiculously gore scenes. It is a very well achieved tribute to the franchise, at the height of Prometheus, with clear references to the old movies, and Ridley Scott's signature all over it.

In the first Alien, humans arrive on some fucked up planet and come across a spaceship, a bizarre alien spaceship... the design and culture and everything inside this ship is insanely alien... It is one of the very few, if only films ever made that truly feels like you are experiencing something that is ALIEN.
But now, by the end of these prequels, Alien is going to be so much smaller and boring... "Oh yeah, that thing is just a spacesuit for a big species of white dudes". "Yeah that alien is just a weapon created by a human android!" "Oh thats how that spaceship crashed!" "oh that's who Ripleys mother was!" etc etc etc.
- kind of like the 2001 sequels********
- big species of white dudes = the giant ted dansons lmaoernexbcn
- kind of like the 2001 sequels

As for the 3D I'd imagine Zbrush was involved at some point?dyspl - it's a great poster, the xenomorphs fucking up the engineersernexbcn
- might have been zbrush, my money is on maya though.mugwart
- Probably both actually, they did the inial build in zbrush, into maya to tidy up the messes, worked on the film! Rendered this shit out! Amazing poster.mugwart

It's filler, not killer.
- Nngh, is it worth it though?detritus
- for the price of a cinema ticket?
- sadly, no.Bluejam - ^ Oh please. It doesnt cost much to go to the movies, and it doesnt take much of your time. Im sure its plenty worth it.CygnusZero4
- As long as it is not walk out of the theater awful, which I know its not, then how could it not be worth it? Should I sit at home and watch HGTV instead?CygnusZero4
- I find it increasingly hard to sit in the dark for 2 hours in a movie theatre, so if I'm going to, it best be worth it. Otherwise I'll wait and watch it at homedetritus
- ..although that said, I have a higher tolerance for cinema outings where the whizz-bang effects are better seen on the big screen. Case in point: Avatardetritus
- no, it's not walk out awful but it's one of those films that imo, i wouldn't get stressed if i missed it's run in cinemas.Bluejam
- as it happened, had fuck all going on last friday and a mate had tickets.Bluejam

Watched it, was ok, but pretty much the same pattern as previous Alien films. I felt the ending was predictable too. Also, not sure about the current trend with showing trailer footage that is not in the film. There was really no point in James Franco being in the film.

I binged watched Alien 1-3, and Prometheus over the weekend. I hadnt seen any of them in a very long time.
I only really liked Alien. Aliens was just some dumb brainless space marine nonsense. Didnt like it. Alien 3 obviously isnt even worth getting into. Idk what happened with that movie since it had such a talented director on it. My only guess is he wasnt that involved in the story, or the studio got in the way somehow.
This series probably gets way more attention than it deserves. There really is only 1 good movie in it, and it came out a million years ago. I actually liked Prometheus, it just could have been a lot better, but its so different than all of the others, its almost like a spinoff.
- ... I like Alien 3! The original script would have been interesting. Wooden planet infested with monks!mugwart
- Blasphemy! Aliens is a damn masterpiece.inteliboy
- No it isnt. Its alright. Its really not that great.CygnusZero4
- Aliens is a B movie with a blockbuster budget. The tone is so different from the first movie. I enjoy it for different reasons. But Alien is the masterpiece IMODRIFTMONKEY
- @mugs The original 3 script was so good! I hate they didn't go with it, was such an interesting concept.garbage
- It was. A great read. But I enjoyed three. Some great actors in there and one of them my fav doctor who! (whom was just in the worse film)mugwart
- Can either of you share a link to said script? would like a read...detritus
- Is it the Gibson one?
http://www.awesomefi…detritus - Aliens is an A+ B-movie. One of the best ever.sarahfailin
- Aliens is a masterpiece. Even if you don't like it. It's a film that is studied, and set the bar for action films to this day.inteliboy
- I'm with intelliboy. I'm not gay or owt.MrT

And I keep hearing covenant doesnt pick up the storyline than Prometheus finished on, with her going to their home world? WTF is that all about? I was actually interested in continuing on with that.
- Ianbolton0
for all it's lame-ass script, Prometheus wins. Convenant was a mess, and sometimes you're left thinking 'what the fuck is going on?'.
How did the Covenant only leave earth in 2015? Where as the Prometheus mission started in 2089? And they managed to 'bump into' David, left over from Prometheus? What luck! That one thing fucked the whole story up for me as it made no sense - from a timeline perspective.
- tank02-2
- Dunno, I enjoyed it.detritus
- fucking awful. worst aliens movie to date. felt like they were punishing you for going to see it.sarahfailin
- autoflavour0
it was ok.. not great, but not bad..
so many things tho that kept fucking with me..like, they are all wearing go pro's on their shoulders.. in 2104 or something..
- autoflavour0
also, what in 80 years we are still using machine guns and shot guns?
gimme a break.. where the fuck is my laser blasters and shit..
none of this stupid 19th century technology in space.- Kinetic weaponry will be with us for hundreds of years yet - only difference I can see is smaller projectiles on electric rails.. *perhaps*detritus
- I mean, unless some nooPhysX comes along to disrupt the predicted order of things...detritus
- Yeah, projectile weapons are efficient and cost effective. Railguns are the next delicious step - firing *any* object at ballistic speeds.face_melter
- One of my favorite William Gibson pieces is from Count Zero I think - a railgun is used to destroy a research facility by throwing 150kg of ice at it.face_melter
- ha! one of my all-time favourite weapons (from either Eagle or Starblazer) was a gun that fired icicles, so the projectile melted before it could be analysed..detritus
- Also, another (unrelated) old favourite..
https://en.wikipedia…detritus - Oh shit! Starblazer! I think I know the issue you mean as well. With the blind private detective guy. Top comic.face_melter

for fuck sake ... Alcoholic film makers, talking poetry and classical music does not make you cultural nor deep.
So much potential and so much talent at his disposal ... and he made that...
So much 'convenient' plot telling, VFX mostly was dire, (there was 2d rain sheets slap comped onto the shots and some of the rendering ... terrible) camera work did not look nor feel like Ridley. I dont think it was the projection but the choice of lens and the DI the look and feel look shit. Which is unlike Ridleys other works. No far that guy drinks he always has a high camera production show...
The characters.... you know the actors gave it all they could but the script was lacking as was the plot twists...
Gore was great though, as was the 'natural' aliens.
This felt a sub par teen slasher, made by a drunk, with an incredible set design, whom never saw a slasher.
The twist was visible from the offset. So much happened and yet nothing happened....
really wanted to like this as well.
rant at an end!
- gosh and prometheus was so good, and the plot was so cohesive. what a surprise! i mean i'm shocked. shaken. i can't possibly lay it on any thicker.sarahfailin
- nar that film at least tried, be it badlymugwart
- the 1st alien encounter screamed of bad CGernexbcn
- 100% what mug explained, nothing more to add. wasted opportunity.********
- sarahfailin-2
It's got a 76% - Certified Fresh on RottenTomatoes.com. ...pretty surprising actually.
Roger Ebert called it the third best movie in the Aliens cannon.
- sarahfailin2
Bill Maher: "Alien movies have to start placing their letters closer together. Is this a movie poster or an eye chart!"

Headbutts? That a thing now?
May have done better if they cut the sideboob to get a pg13.
- CygnusZero40
Damn I loved it. Really interesting from start to finish. It wasnt perfect, but its as good as it needs to be for an alien sci-fi movie.
- uh ohdetritus
- wat********
- you also loved the SW prequelsfadein11
- ^ bc they are stupid sci fi movies, which is good enough for me. i didnt expect any oscars with them like you dumbassesCygnusZero4
- ^ Unlike that comment, sci-fi can be and often is anything but stupid.MrT
- Maaku-1
The engineers not being able to defend themselves is bullshit.
And did anyone noticed how there isn't a single female in that planet. They're all dudes.- on that planet*Maaku
- I watched it last night. Those engineers looked different than the Prometheus engineers.thumb_screws
- ^ Bc there was only one in prometheus.CygnusZero4
- There was the dissolving one at the start and the spacejockey one at the end. Maybe they were military engineers in prometheus.thumb_screws
- The ones In covenant didn't have that cold looking white skin. The looked warmer in covenant.thumb_screws
- Better circulation or the warming grading in that flash back scene.thumb_screws
