Elon Musk is using Trump's Twitter tactics. We know how this ends.

Huge debt. Conspiracy tweets. Media feuds. Too many outrages at once. Did Twitter's new owner take the wrong lesson from the Trump era? Did we?

I worry about Dataminr, a AI startup that Twitter owns a piece of which is the only company that has access to ALL OF TWITTER'S DATA (known as the firehose) which is then sold to government agencies, the white house, CIA, and other countries so that security forces can aggregate user data and get real time alerting to natural disasters, events, etc. - just look at how this access was weaponized during BLM protests, https://theintercept.com/2020/07…

Police departments the world over have access to all this twitter user data which they use to target citizens, wonder how Musky is going to further monetize that org

Pretty sure my company is waiting for the initial chaos to settle and then we’re going to try to hire all the best people we can from the twitter layoffs.

The idea that “only the best of the best” kept their jobs is absurd. We all know how downsizing goes. It’s a lot of political bullshit and shitty managers will throw good people under the bus to protect themselves.

No doubt that even many of the people who are staying on are already thinking about when they’ll leave.

Yes, twitter can operate on a smaller budget, but the best people want to work cushy jobs, not work for slave-driver Elon asking everyone to give their life to the corporate cause. Luuuulz Elon. Lulz

    • under a post. twitter, you get some comments, an advert, recommended posts and as you scroll down it's so infuriating.shapesalad
    • Plus i always mistake the 'reply' button under a tweet as the 'comments' button. When you do press reply, the UI goes over the post, shows no comments.shapesalad
    • what the fuck is that, total shit UI/UX experience. Seems to be only for true twitter twits that get off on trying to squeeze a message into 280 characters.shapesalad

I lost everything in a fire during my time at Twitter. No one rushed me back to work. Coworkers rallied their teams to a GoFundMe set up for me and my cat. My manager gave me a discreet bonus to help and only apologized that it wasnt more. I will never forget any of it. #OneTeam  <3

Follow the #oneteam hashtag today. Heartbreaking stories.

Meanwhile, Elon fucking BRAGS about firing half his people. He’s gloating. He’s proud of it. Wtf. And still the Elon Stans will consider Elon a hero of business and probably talk about how billionaires are job creators. What a joke.

Fuck Elon. He’s a spoiled rich kid with no real friends. That would be fine but don’t take out your insecurities on working Americans.

If you checkout #OneTeam hashtag on twitter you see countless people getting locked out without any real notice.

Is that how firing people in the US works? Don't they have at least 2 weeks notice?
