He’s only keeping staff because the job market looks pretty grim. Still, ex-twitter is valued in tech so these people have options. Not as many as back in January, but there’s always someone hiring

No nonprofits have recently announced receiving any money from him, and Musk did not respond to several Fortune requests for comment.
