Apple has reportedly followed IBM by pulling advertising from X, formerly Twitter, as the platform’s owner Elon Musk made posts agreeing with antisemitic conspiracy theories, supporting white pride, and continued a fight with the Anti-Defamation League.
Axios cites unnamed sources in a report that Apple is pausing advertising on X, and the list is growing — later on Friday, the New York Times reported Disney would pause advertising on X, while CNBC noted the same for Warner Bros. IBM suspends ads on X after corporate ads appeared next to pro-Nazi content
IBM (IBM.N) on Thursday said it had immediately suspended all advertising on Elon Musk-owned X after a report found its ads were placed next to content promoting Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.
The report comes a day after Musk endorsed an antisemitic post on X that falsely claimed members of the Jewish community were stoking hatred against white people.
Media watchdog Media Matters said it found that corporate advertisements by IBM, Apple (AAPL.O), Oracle (ORCL.N) and Comcast's (CMCSA.O) Xfinity were being placed alongside antisemitic content.

Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins reinstated on X
Anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson has had his account reinstated on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was reinstated alongside political commentator Katie Hopkins.
Hopkins was banned in 2020 and Robinson's account was suspended in 2018 - Twitter accused both of breaking its rules on hateful conduct.
A number of controversial figures have been allowed back on the platform since it was bought by Elon Musk last year.
In November 2022, Mr Musk - a self-styled "free speech absolutist" - announced a "general amnesty" to suspended accounts that had "not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam".
Research by BBC Monitoring found that of 1,100 reinstated accounts it examined, nearly 190 were promoting hate and violence.
X has also reinstated the controversial influencer and self-proclaimed misogynist Andrew Tate, whose accounts are banned by YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
