Russia-Ukraine Invasion

Insane article published by Russian state media seems to call for genocide and elimination of Ukraine entirely.
What should Russia do with Ukraine?
Denazification is necessary when a significant part of the people - most likely *the majority - has been mastered and drawn into the Nazi regime in its politics. That is, when the hypothesis "the people are good - the government is bad" does not work.
In addition to the top, a significant part of the masses, which are passive Nazis, accomplices of Nazism, are also guilty.
The nazification of Ukraine continued for more than 30 years, beginning at least in 1989, when Ukrainian nationalism received legal and legitimate forms of political expression and led the movement for "independence" towards Nazism.
The name "Ukraine" apparently cannot be retained as the title of any fully denazified state entity in a territory liberated from the Nazi regime...Denazification will inevitably also be a de-Ukrainization - a rejection of the large-scale artificial inflation of the ethnic component of self-identification of the population of the territories of historical Little Russia and New Russia, begun by the Soviet authorities.

But still, this reads like dystopian fiction from an alternate universe.Continuity - It almost reads like satire, starting with the title which sounds disturbingly like "the Jewish question"...but this is Russian official government media.yuekit

"Russia ‘using weapons smuggled by Iran from Iraq against Ukraine’"
https://www.theguardian.com/worl…
The Ruskies are so hard up, they need weapons smuggled in from the Middle East.
China — doing what China does — is pretty much getting around the sanctions by shipping weapons to Serbia. Whether those are going to be forwarded to the Ruskies in Ukraine, or used locally to finally try to realise their 'Greater Serbia' fever dream — by having another crack at Bosnia and Kosovo — remains to be seen.

‘They shot my son. I was next to him.It would be better if it had been me.’
Russian soldiers set up in this school. A sniper in a high-rise fired at anybody who moved. Other soldiers tortured, raped and executed civilians in basements or backyards.

British Ukraine Marine Aiden Aslin (AKA Cossack Gundî / Johnny) has had to surrender with his unit to Russian forces in Mariupol. They fought like hell for 48 days and have now run out of food and ammunition due to Russia’s siege and destruction of the city.
https://twitter.com/Jake_Hanraha…
Many will still be fighting until the last breath. It's already impressive that they could hold out so long.
Too bad they couldn't be helped with supplies of ammunition and food. Maybe Ukraine can take Mariupol back in a big offensive later on.

Trying to see the good in all of this:
1) Rapid leap away from fossil fuels
2) Europe helps rebuild Ukraine, a jump start to their economy
3) If God allows, Russians finally learn the hard lesson that routine replacement of power is the only way to go. 20 years of autocracy must never happen again. The deeper the Russian humiliation, the better.
4) Discuss- Fair points, but I don't think this is going to have too much medium term impact on fossil fuel consumption, just the immediate sourcing.Nairn
- I had idly considered prior whether this was all some ruse to shock the global system off hydrocarbons, but nah.Nairn
- Look at any hydrocarbon piechart breakdown and 50%+ is transportation. imho, we need nuclear for that, for the next few decades at least.Nairn
- Germany's not a fan of nuclear, which given its position in Europe, poses a bit of a conundrum.Nairn
- flol at 20 years of autocacy must never happen again.
russians love being humiliated, it confirms their need for strongmenhans_glib - The only positive thing I see is that Russia's military isn't much better than it was during the cold war. Maybe they have hypersonic weapons, not much more.formed
- By rapid I mean over the next ten years, in any case its a push in the right directiondrgs
- 1. Nah
2. Always
3. Nah. They don't think like this. They love their autocracy.
4. ☑Krassy - The only positive thing I see is the long term isolation of Russia from the West and most of the rest of the World.Krassy

- Anyway, there are options. Modernization without westernization (the latter is synonymus with gay parades to Russians)drgs

Transfer of NATO equipment across Romania towards the border with Ukraine near Uzhgorod

A Russian source is saying the Moskva has sunk and that the explosion was from a Ukrainian Neptun missile strike. Apparently, Ukraine flew a TB2 UCAV to distract the ship while it was targeted by the Neptun. The ship rolled onto its side after the strike.
The Moskva has a crew of 510, so this could be worst mass casualty producing event of the war.
