"The mystery surrounding the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has deepened with the Chinese media reporting that several of the passengers' mobile phones were connecting when called by relatives, but the calls were not picked up."

It's an elaborate publicity stunt for a new film.

wait, if some of the passengers phones are still ringing, can't they just triangulate the signal ?
- Hombre_Lobo0
^yeh surely.
it amazes me that the tracking system for the plane has somehow disappeared. surely you put a tracker in something solid, impenetrable and immovable. This is insane though, like a sci fi film...

Not sure how GSM roaming works, but I suspect any ringing would probably be due to some technical thing to do with the last place that call was being received.
Presumably the plane's at the bottom of the sea somewhere - no way will a mobile be able to receive a signal, even if it was somehow miraculously dry, in an air-pocket or something.

People...the ocean is massive..planes sink. It was probably something catastrophic and pilots were dealing with it or dead due to explosive decompression..which at altitude would have frozen them almost instantly.

could this be a Godzilla film promotion?

Flew into a worm hole - like in Donnie Darko!

Even if it exploded at 30,000+ feet, there must be debris somewhere, even if it's tiny, they just havent found it yet. If it blew up that high the debris would likely be spread out over a massive area. I think at some point some debris will turn up.

Chipmaker Freescale Semiconductor has issued a statement reporting that, tragically, 20 of its employees were aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which appears to have crashed into the South China Sea.

"Asked to clarify the appearance of passengers on stolen passports, Rahman bizarrely suggested they looked like the black Italian footballer Mario Balotelli."
