How is Nader qualified to be president, JazX?
He has absolutely no experience dealing with foreign policy, job creation or a multitude of other issues. He is a consumer advocate and environmentalist and that is it.

MrDob:
I'm undecided...my candidate would be the guyt aht is looking out for the middle class american...as far as I ahve seen since I started to become more politically aware, there is nobody that does that.
I choose to vote on the local level...county, state, city, etc. I have more control over how it effects me. If some assclown wants to rezone an area near my home for commercial...I can go to hearing and protest an encourage a vote against it. I don't have that option on the national level.

he's just as much experience in that field as what J. Kerry does. As someone pointed out Kerry was once viewed as a Nader type.
- mrdobolina0
gotcha xaos, but that is half-stepping.
It is defeatist attitudes like that that allow the type of marginalization that is going on right now.
- speed_d0
Why is it a waste of my time? You have to take baby steps for something you believe in before anything nutures.

So, you are willing to give your vote to someone who will not win the election, due to the electoral college system, doesn't have ANY shot at it.I agree there should be other alternatives besides Dem and Rep, but that is not the reality and a vote for Nader doesn't make any progress for the cause...
and brundlefly... let JazX defend himself... which we know he is capable of doing. I realize JazX will do what he thinks is right, I want to discuss with HIM why he chooses what he does

This country is idealistically conservative to it's own detriment. Case in point, the middle class has been eroding since 1975 as a result of institutionalized tax exemptions to corporations to reduce thier risk of flight to other countries. It's a classic capitalist crisis.
- JazX0
Where is J. Kerry's big experience in dealing with foriegn policy? Woking as a senator? BS'ing with foreign dignitaries in Beantown?
What his Mocambique-born wife?
- JazX0
Thanks brundlefly and I repect all your views
- mrdobolina0
except he was never in congress, or held any public office for that matter. why didnt he start out as a congressman first. he is a consumer advocate.
all G.I.'s in iraq will be forced to wear seatbelts in their Bradley fighting vehicles.
Thats rather unrealistic, but you get my point.
- xaoscontrol0
I don't see how it's half stepping. are you telling me that if I don't find any candidate appealing whatsoever, I should still vote for them regardless of how I feel about them? Why not play 'pin the tale on the candidate"?
- speed_d0
JazX I respect all views as well, and you obviously have reasons for feeling the way you do.
I've been in too many of these debates. It's a lost cause. We believe what we believe. Let's just agree to disagree and to continue to stand up for what we believe is right.
Thanks for the discussion

JazX, 19 years on the senate foreign relations committee, maybe?
- brundlefly0
heh not defending anyone, just stating the law, which is anyone who can vote, can vote for whomever the hell they want.
Whether or not you think it is a wasted vote.
I personally don't think anyone who votes wastes their vote.

another profound observation :
it's never good to champion a man who you don't honestly, truly know.
no one knows what is actually in the heart of john kerry ....
just as no one truly knows themselves and what actually makes them tick.
we project onto john kerry the dreams we have for the world and see what we want to see.
and turn a blind eye to any imperfections.happens every four years.
i'm not saying there is anything wrong with that ...
but it's important to be realistic with these things ....
of course we have to cast a vote .... for george or for john ...
but let's not pretend we know it all....
godspeed,
fatty

I get you dob, it's not a problem man, I might still throw my vote towards Kerry. Then again, he's not impressing me much and Edwards for sure isn't impressive. Sure Nader didn't serve on that level. Does that mean he has no understanding on the subject whatsoever? More so that the current Bush does IMO. It comes down to personal liking as well. If Kerry wins the area in which I live in will blossom like a rose. Kerry has two homes in Pittsburgh alone. Heinz $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...
- raybolger20
You know it's time for a dramatic change when American bookstores and movie theaters are filled with enormous numbers of BushCo exposés and embarrassing tell-alls and brutal whistle-blower digests from all corners of the culture, made by everyone from discouraged CIA insiders to ex-generals to respected reporters and former U.S. allies.
two oh oh four-show him the door!

(aug 17 04, 09:21)I stand corrected. However, that doesn't mean that Nader is clueless toward foreign policy. Are you bashing me for my viewpoint?
- mrdobolina0
nah, I just thought that it was a bit unfounded JazX. You know I love you, dude.
a man doesn't come from no government experience whatsoever to being the most powerful man in the world, it is kindof unrealistic to bet the farm on someone with no actual experience. also, I have said it before, vote for indy congressmen before an indy president. Imagine an indy got into the white house with a republican congress, stalemate.

brilliant and true, fatty
- JazX0
See that's part of it. I like what the Independent party says and of course Nader will never win. However, I do believe that if you find a party attractive you can help their cause by letting them take baby steps at first to push their cause later. Anyway, I'm just a travelling foo who looks at things differently anyway. ;)
