Funny you mention Philip Johnson Discipler, doesn't he consider Young Earth Creationists completely off base? Have you even read his stuff?
- JazX0
A good 5 years. Heard him speak many times as well. He did do a good job at conmparing evolutionary theory to baseball. Interesting correlation.

Hey, are any of the ID scientists actually doing new work or are all their energies directed towards disproving the Darwinians?
I mean is there any original work coming out of this crowd.
- Mimio0
P.S.
P. Johnson isn't even in the same ballpark as thinkers like S.J. Gould. He's not even a scientist.
- JazX0
Not sure.
I'm more of a Vulkan myself.
Love those cones with sprinkles on top.

Mimio - I know Johnson is not a scientist. Facts are facts though and if you aren't interested in reading his works, there are numerous other scientists ("thinkers") that you could check out. Look into the other books I've linked. Why single out Johnson? And I endorse all manner of ID proponents, regardless of their view of young/old earth issues. Again, earth's age is a secondary issue to me.
Tick - ID scientists are scientists, many are professors, so I guess you could say they are doing whatever practicing scientists in their fields of study do. And, in a sense, authoring papers and books to educate the public about the latest scientific findings which point to a creator, could be seen as a positive contribution.

I've been out of the LOOP waaaaaaay too long to even begine to argue some of this stuff. ID scientists are what again? What ID?
I don't get it.
BTW, so individuals are allowed to rewrite History books based upon new findings, but not Science books. Why not?
- Mimio0
Discipler, I read articles by Johnson and I'm familiar with his views. I singled him out because he's one of the founders of the ID movement, as well as a Christian.

JazX, Here are some names to get familiar with regarding I.D.:
Michael J. Behe, Ph.D.
William A. Dembski, Ph.D.
Jonathan Wells, Ph.D.

So "earth's age is a secondary issue to me."
Yet you will attack evolution for a concept secondary to it:
"Observational science cannot determine how life originated."
Evolution makes no attempt to explain this.

Great articles from Behe:

my only exposure to ID is from an article in Wired...which,btw, got lots of sh** from the scientific community for even mentioning ID. But nonetheless, it was very interesting to say the least.

does anyone see a pattern here? Why is it in every religious thread, it is always the "nonreligious" types that always resort to name-calling and cussing to try to prove a point or to belittle the other. An easy sign of weakness and incompetence

you are so persecuted, yars.

(Jun 13 05, 12:07)I do not call names here. Never have and if I have it was by mistake or a joke. It's a justifiable observation I suppose.

xaos, you're about to get a heck of a lot more exposure to I.D.. More and more PBS programs, books, periodical articles will be coming out - lots of exposure ahead. The Darwinists are doing their best to stifle it, but to no avail it would seem, at least.
- TheTick0
Hey, I'm religious - just not a fundamentalist christian and I really appreciate the clever and creative use of cussing.
There's insults and then there are intellectual broadsides with the occasional dirty weapon. You gotta recognize the difference...
- mrdobolina0
the reason for that is because the republicans have stopped all funding to pbs. so the church people will make donations to pbs and they will have documentaries about ID. it is so corrupt it is sick.
- TheTick0
"More and more PBS programs, books, periodical articles will be coming out "
Gee I wonder if this is becuase the PBS just got turned over to a Bush flunky with a Christian agenda? Hmmmmm??

There's always two sides to a coin right fella's? It cannot hurt to learn about something that you might not personally agree with. It can only make you stronger to understand your opposition in anything. Never assume anything is 100% absolute and never take your opponent for granted. blah, blah...
