OK, maybe I misinterpreted you kld. I see what you were saying. But you get my point.

You're right Jazx,
It's just coincidence that global warming is happening perfectly parallel to human expansion and industrializtion. Not to get philosophical again, but I equate the same wasteful attitudes towards pollution with the sense of global entitlement found in the Bible.
- kld0
...ultimately distroying the environment.
Maybe this is a little overstated, but only time will tell.
I still wonder why create an earth when the goal is to go somewhere else(heaven) and only the faithful get to go there. save yerself a step.

(Jun 13 05, 15:24)Ehhh? I can't tell if you are agreeing with me or being a smart-*ss. Global warming, haaa try the Vulkanism that existed through the paleo-environments during the Cretaceous. Again, the rock record, physical evidence (nothing to do with the Bible) supports that the Earth's temperature was MUCH higher in this time period. Gases being shot into the atmosphere, etc. cause this to happen. It's dwarfs us today by far. Again, physical evidence from paleo-CO2, which is dated using the same tools that support Evolutionary Theory.

because
EVERYONE KNOWS
that Moses
REALLY
separated those waters.
it's a white thing.
- kld0
well those gases which escaped during that period must have helped create a nurturing environment to support our modern life, at least in part. I guess driving to work may not be so bad afterall.

This thread is gettin' a little silly now. Confusing personal and political affiliations with actual physical scientific evidence.
I'm a hypocrite if I stay any longer. As you know the political threads can die as far as I'm concerned. This lost it's scientific edge long ago and I'm not even sure we should be rapping about science. Head on over to CNN folks.
Laterz! :)

//jazx, ever been to LA, god made those pretty sunsets.
- Anarchitect0
you're not an hypocrite.
you just don't [want to] have a stance on anything.
- mrdobolina0
hahaha, no doubt.

Cheap shot, mrdobolina. You guys like to judge. Never even once did I say I was supporting the Creationist's viewpoint, only that they had legitimate grips and that the Geologic Time Scale might be off from some of the recent K-Ar dating inconsistencies, which discipler actually pointed out from extremely ancient exposed Andesite and Basalt dykes in NZ.
//This place is so liberal.
- mrdobolina0
anarchitect is right, you never take a side, then you bash the thread for existing, then say t-minus whatever...
- ********0
Nope. Very wrong. I stand on the side of Evolutionary Theory, but the point of me sticking up for discipler, and you guys going off on me for it, goes to show you how you guys like to attack people just cause they disagree with your own viewpoints. Earlier, most of the claims that were made by the Evolution supporters had no scientific evidence supporting them. I just stated that he had a few good points and that I don't think the Earth is 4 Billion years old or whatever it being claimed these days and at the same token the Bible is not a good judge of this as well. That doesn't mean I don't know what Creationists are saying about it.
- mrdobolina0
they're just defending their out of date book.
- ********0
That may be the case, but it's up to him to try to rationalize that.
It's his brain, and yeah he might gear his scientific views due to his religious views, I agree, but let him be.
At least his kind aren't just taking theory as FACT, but instead use their own minds to think sh*t out. Honestly, do you think that every Creationist is a Born-Again X-tian. Chances are, not.
But then again, maybe they're crazy hahaha.
- ********0
Well keep this going. The scientific aspect of this is intriguing.

Enter response:
500 years ago - the earth was flat.
1500 years ago - the earth was the center of the universe...
... science this day and age is just as arrogant.
There aren't any lies in faith either. If you believe in Creation - then you have faith... which is something you can't really prove.

Ah - the "ruining the environment" argument. Hmm..certainly the earlier eras had some dramtic different environments, none to friendly to human habitation.
But I tyhink the broader point - not so much gloabal warming/global cooling, etc - is that human beings have a distinct and measurable effect on the environment and in the short space of time we have gone from a localized species to a global one with matching technology, our ability to affect the environment is expotentially larger than any other species.
Are we causing an effect? Not all the votes are in, but it's probably a safe bet we are. The real question is to what effect.
It is certainly true to say that the earth has been much warmer in the past. But has it been this warm in man's tenure on the planet? The world has been optimized to human conditions - when we push that system we will have unpredictable and maybe not favorable conditions for the continuation of human life.
Also, it maybe that if the world is indeed warming some cultures will benefit and others will collapse - which could spread poitical and cultural instability. Not saying that's good or bad, but it will be different with some hefty consequences.
