Nobody knows anything for certain about the afterlife or god. It's all speculation.

If you want to be an atheist, great. If you want to believe, go right ahead. But please, everyone, do the following:

    1. Stop pretending that your beliefs are absolute truth. This includes atheists! Accept that you don't know and you can't know. It's ok to not know for certain. It means you are exactly like every single human that has ever lived.

    2. Don't tell anyone what they should believe. It's ok to debate and share your beliefs with others, but please respect people's ability to make up their own mind. You got to make up your mind, let them do the same.

    3. If you are a believer or associate yourself with any faith, you should speak up against wars, injustice, and evil shit that is being done with your faith's name behind it. When someone talks about holy war, speak up against that shit. When a politician says god told them to run for office, speak up against that shit. If your church protects a child molester, speak up against that shit. It is your responsibility to keep your faith's name in good standing with the public.

    4. Do not confuse your country's laws with your religion's laws. They are not the same, and they don't need to be.

    5. Don't let your belief system or religion make you do something that you know is wrong. if you know in your heart that something is wrong, it's ok to disobey the rules of your religion to protect your personal morality. All religions shift policies over time (for better or worse) and you know right from wrong. You also know that every religion has stood behind some evil shit at some point in history. Trust your instincts.

    • Atheists don't claim their beliefs are absolute truth. We simply prefer proof to speculation.monospaced
    • And we balk at people who claim to have answers despite not a single shred of proof.monospaced
    • This post violates number 2.hereswhatidid
    • i think you're confused, mono. Agnostics are non-believers unless there's material proof...locustsloth
    • Atheists firmly believe there is no godlocustsloth
    • Nah, I'm not telling people what to believe, I'm telling them how to behave. Big difference.
      nb
    • ah, I see... I'm still an atheist thenmonospaced

A courthouse in Florida will soon be the site of what is hailed as the first atheist monument to be found on government property in the United States.

Bradford County Courthouse, which already has a Decalogue display just outside of its building, will have a large granite bench placed by the national organization the American Atheists in late June. Dave Muscato, public relations director for American Atheists, told The Christian Post that the atheist monument was part of a settlement made with Bradford County over having a Ten Commandments display at its courthouse.

"Bradford County agreed to a settlement with us, allowing us to place our own monument adjacent to the Ten Commandments monument instead of removing the latter," said Muscato.

"While separation of religion and government is always our primary motivation, equal access in this case works for us. We are thrilled to place what we believe to be the first ever atheist-sponsored monument on government property in the history of the United States."

imagine if atheism becomes an organised thing, like christianity. and atheists congregate on a certain day of the week to discuss the absence of a god.

what the fuck are we going to do then?

    • that happens all the time, the atheist societies and organizations are very activemonospaced

    • If you haven't noticed Atheists are angry as fuck. Should go to an atheist meet up see for yourself.yurimon
    • The atheist campaign is about being non-agressive, actually. It's purely peaceful.monospaced
    • They're just trying to spread the idea of rational thinking in the modern world. Freeing oneself from dogma for dogma's sake.monospaced
    • Its still creates dogma. Doesnt prove anything or disprove,, Limits like any other religion mixed with politricks,.. nextyurimon
    • That's the biggest misconception. There is no dogma attached to atheism.monospaced
