What a ridiculous argument, citing sources from the 20's and 30's
mrdobolina
(Jan 23 06, 07:26)So, the 'Vote Liberal' thread became rather bifurcated due to my comments about abortion. And spk seems to have a mild seizure when I mention US politics in a Canadian thread. So, I'm taking it elsewhere which is what I should've done in the first place.
Mrdobolina:
I pulled those quotes from the 20s & 30s because they came from the mouth of the founder of Planned Parenthood. And they are obviously at great odds with the *perceived* role that Planned Parenthood has played in our society.
To this day, that organization has done absolutely nothing to distance themselves from her rhetoric. So her quotes unfortunately still bear some sad poignance.
A rational assessment of Planned Parenthood's goals & strategies since its founding displays that organization's commitment to its founder's worldview.
Let us guard against the accusation that we of the emerging generation live in arrogant short-sightedness that refuses to understand and learn from the words and deeds of those who have gone before us.
If it is ridiculous to cite the founder of Planned Parenthood, then it is also ridiculous to cite the US Constitution when discussing laws and rights because it was written a long time ago.
If any of you are curious about Margaret Sanger's words, it's in the local library. Should be easy to find.

30.... 29.... 28....
Before this baby goes off I'd just like to say this was well thought out.

Wait, are you implying that planned parenthood is trying to weed out blacks and immigrants? That it's promoting a plan to require a license to have a child?
That's the point i feel you're trying to make.

(Jan 23 06, 09:00)That was at least the goal of Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood.

It's been well documented in the books I quoted from in the post that started all this.

So as I understand it, the prochoice people cite the woman's right to chose to murder the kid because of circumstances like rape (which isnt the kid's fault), incest (which might lead to a child with genetic defects being born = a shortcut to eugenics), and what else ?
What are the other circumstances in which abortion is justified ?

A more adept analogy would be to look at the fact that Jefferson, Washington, Madison all owned slaves and then look to the US Constitution as a means to abolish slavery and later advance civil rights. Times change, civil rights should be interpreted in the present context, and the needs of society in the present day.

(Jan 23 06, 09:04)that's a desperate argument of the "thomas jefferson owned slaves" variety. read some fran liebowitz already.
or just admit that you're a right-wing freak and stop trying to have arguments about abortion on design forums.

gramme, I've struggled and failed to understand this paradox of liberalism, whose core tenet is supposed to be the advancement and preservation of human rights and yet they somehow reconcile this with the killing of the unborn.
I can only conclude it is yet another result of social darwinism and the belief that we are just higher animals with ultimately no real value.

-----------------------There's the tolerance you'll get here, gramme.
If you dissent on the issues, you'll get called names and be ridiculed out the door.
- Mimio0
If you want to believe that a 30 day old blasticyst is a human don't terminate your pregnacy. I wouldn't recommend trying to tell every other woman what to do with their own body is your right.

(Jan 23 06, 09:08)so be it. I get so weary of peope making automatic assumptions about my political leanings because I am pro-life. Absurd.

Mimio, still don't know the science on this issue either? Go and learn when the "cyst" (zygote which has all the genetic information of an adult human) has a heartbeat. And then learn when the average person actually has the abortion procedure done.

(Jan 23 06, 09:10)women can do whatever they want with their bodies. I have no quarrel with that. I refuse to be believe, however, that a fetus is actually a part of a woman's body. Different DNA, often different blood type. And don't forget, we were all fetuses once.
Rape and incest are horrible things that I would never wish on anyone. However, if the woman is not in a position to become a mother, then put the baby up for adoption. There are organizations that do an excellent job of finding stable homes for such children.

Greedolives had it right.
Please explain how Planned Parenthood is currently trying to exterminate blacks and require licensing to have children.
If their agenda hasnt strayed much from Sanger's, you should have no problem doing that.
You brought that up for shock value, admit it.
