A great area in Paris (in my opinion) is along Quai de Jemmapes.
Good place for food is Hotel du Nord, then a drink at Chez Prune (dort of hipster cafe) the late night drinks at Favela Chic.
Also - Musee d'Orsay is amazing, as is Père Lachaise Cemetery.

If Prague is greater than Paris, why go to Paris?
I think 650-975 would get you 5 days to be safe.

Which route are you travelling and how are you travelling?

I haven't been in Paris for a year or two - but Montmartre is always awesome.

You could go anywhere on that route really.
One way, Berlin, Amsterdam, Bruge are all cool.
Another way could be Salzburg, Milan, Geneva...- definitely, can't really go wrong either waybrandelec
- Berlin is amazing, one of my fav cities, Amsterdam is nice, because I'm here, Bruge, I've only been for a day, very prettyneue75_bold

1000€ should be ok... any less and you'll have to travel and live like a dirty 17 year old dreadlocked american backpacker...
remember, do not put the canadian flag on your backpacks either..
- Put the Irish and Brazilian flags on there. Everybody likes them...Gordy22
- eurorail pass for 4/5 countires would be good...neue75_bold
- lets face it, nobody likes anybody...neue75_bold

thanks neue, i think 1000€ is a safe minimum. euro pass sounds like the plan right now.
not even a canadian flag with a ganja leaf?- I guess, or maybe just a big target on your forehead?neue75_bold

"Travel from Paris to Berlin by the City Night Line sleeper train 'Perseus', leaving Paris Gare de l'Est at 20:20 and arriving at Berlin (Hauptbahnhof) at 09:02 next morning. This train runs on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays until 26 March 2009, then daily from 27 March to 2 November 2009, then on Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays again. The 'Perseus' has sleepers, couchettes, seats and a bistro car, see the photos & information below. More pictures & information about this train.
#Travel from Berlin to Prague leaving Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 10:35 and arriving Prague (Holesovice station) at 15:30. The is the EuroCity train 'Jan Jesenius' with modern air-conditioned coaches and a restaurant car selling drinks, snacks and affordable full meals - treat yourself to a sit-down lunch! It's a scenic journey, too, all along the Elbe river valley between Dresden and Prague. Map of Prague showing Holesovice station. By all means take a later train if you'd like to spend some time in Berlin. "

the sleeper trains are a great way to travel, but not always included with your eurorail pass, you might have to pay extra, actually, pretty sure you do.. but don't get your hopes up in terms of actually sleeping, they make it sound romantic "Imagine gently rocking yourself to sleep" it's more like being violently shaken into a booze-soaked coma...

as far as I remember... if you are travelling on night trains you can stamp after 8 o'clock and you will still have the full 24 hours the day after... check this when you buy if you are thinking of travelling long distance in a few blocks.
and Neue75 is bang on about the rocking the fuck out on some night trains. stay in the bar till late...
- lowimpakt0
but if you stay in the bar make sure you know where your train is going...
last year myself and the girlfriend were on a train from Munich to Ljubljana and were pretty hammered after a day in the beer yards in Munich. We were getting the cheapest seats for the overnight journey - they were just seats at no extra cost on the pass.. We were having more beers on the train and then late in the night we decided to bunk into first class and take an empty cabin for maximum comfort. we continued the party in first class.
Anyway, we wake up in the morning, hungover to shit. We figured something was wrong by the look of the country side. The ticket lady came along and we were like "mmmm Ljubljana ???" and she basically walked backwards out of the cabin waving her hands - gesturing something like "woah, this is not my problem, see ya later"
We then realised that the train was actually pulling into BUDAPEST. different city, different country.
The train had split in the middle of the night with the two parts going in different directions......

- it's true though, even when sober, the trains in Germany can be confusing and if you have eurorail, many times youneue75_bold
- don't have a destination listed, so if you fuck up, generally you won't know until too late..neue75_bold

night life in paris is for lamers

terrible website, but a great bar in Paris...

How's this?
Prague, Munich, Salzburg, Venice, Milan, Geneva, Paris- honestly wouldn't be my choice, Milan and Geneva = dreadfulneue75_bold
- i can confirm Geneva is quite a letdown. try Zürich instead. Or even Basel..Coffeemaker
- Gordy220
Milan is alright but if you're doing Venice prob not worth it. Maybe for a day to see the Cathederal...
- lowimpakt0
that's not the most appealing route TBH.
How are you travelling into/out of Europe? Does the 10 days include the arrival/departure days?
you have the Alps to the south and Berlin to the North. If you were really smart/organised you could probably fit both of those in.
One of our trains took us through the Austrian Alps last year and there was a lightening storm. pretty amazing.
