why get rid of the bunny - one of the world's most famous brands?
yes the fox illustration is nice and could be used for a sister publication but definitely not to replace the bunny

Oh my god you all are missing the point COMPLETELY. This is obviously a conceptual STUDENT PROJECT. Of course Playboy isn't going to change their logo. Did any of you go to school?
Conceptual exercise. Executed wonderfully.

I read that blog everyday and followed this with much interest. That said, he may as well have just started a new magazine.
Taking nudity completely out of that magazine changes the magazine 1,000,000% over. It's illogical.
tigerlou - I fully respect that it's a student project, but as a professor grading this, I would have to say that it missed the mark. The execution is fantastic, the quality of the work is great. It had tons of work put into it. But you don't completely change a magazine like Playboy in the way this was done.
Not only that, but the guy missed a great opportunity to work with nudity and shove it down people's throats as part of the project. What college kid chooses to NOT do that when presented with the opportunity :D
- I agree, it would be a cool icon/brand for a competing magazine, but remove the nudity and it's useless._niko

...and just think how many of us were conceived thanks to a little help from that iconic bunny.

tigerlou,
Even more of a missed opportunity is that photography is huge on the iso50 blog. Jacob (the guy who did this project) and Scott post tons of great photography links, so I sort of felt let down when there was no mention of nude photography simply because he could have worked it in a much different style than the magazine currently has. Not saying he would have taken photos himself, but a particular photo aesthetic could have been established with the new branding - a little less sleeze, a little more artistic approach.
I don't even know what their photos are like these days in all honesty. I've not picked up a Playboy in nearly 10 years.

Photography yes, would have been nice. But all I'm saying is ditching the nudity seemed to be a core part of the concept and I get it. But agreed that photography could have played a role.
and it says "alex" not jacob. even more proof that no one bothers to read the explanations. if you don't even get the author right...

Yup, the rebrand was done by Alex Cornell, a current MBA student at San Francisco’s Academy of Art, and intern at the place of business of artist/musician Scott Hansen... 'UC/BN'

same guy that did the thing on brand new that's pissing everyone off too

you're arguing about the "nudity"??
d00d, the d00d explained WHY he wanted to get away from it. He SAID Playboy used to be a highly sophisticated intellectual magazine attracting the BEST writers of the English language.
He also explained that the nudity, once upon a time, was radical - but nowadays every lads mag is a fucking titties magazine.
He said he wanted to bring it back to when you COULD say "i read it for the articles" and it wasn't a joke.
And yeah, the bunny used to be quite classy, but with every coke whore stripper with that shit blazoned on her arse, you can hardly say this. But relatively yes.
Whatever, he went for this approach and that was HIS decision.
He wanted to redo the logo and i think, apart from that throbbing hard cock right in the middle, he hit the mark quite well.
The fox is still sensual/sexual and has that sophisticated gentlemans connotation that i'm sure that bunny represented once upon a time.

i think it is an interesting approach, however I would still like for the bunny to be around...

If it aint broke, don't fix it.
- OSFA0
I personally would've used a little pussy...
- tigerlou0
the bunny is still around, it's just dead in the mouth of the fox. haha.
