No.

Photography yes, would have been nice. But all I'm saying is ditching the nudity seemed to be a core part of the concept and I get it. But agreed that photography could have played a role.
and it says "alex" not jacob. even more proof that no one bothers to read the explanations. if you don't even get the author right...

Yup, the rebrand was done by Alex Cornell, a current MBA student at San Francisco’s Academy of Art, and intern at the place of business of artist/musician Scott Hansen... 'UC/BN'

PLAYBOY IS FOR GIRLS

why get rid of the bunny - one of the world's most famous brands?
yes the fox illustration is nice and could be used for a sister publication but definitely not to replace the bunny

same guy that did the thing on brand new that's pissing everyone off too

you're arguing about the "nudity"??
d00d, the d00d explained WHY he wanted to get away from it. He SAID Playboy used to be a highly sophisticated intellectual magazine attracting the BEST writers of the English language.
He also explained that the nudity, once upon a time, was radical - but nowadays every lads mag is a fucking titties magazine.
He said he wanted to bring it back to when you COULD say "i read it for the articles" and it wasn't a joke.
And yeah, the bunny used to be quite classy, but with every coke whore stripper with that shit blazoned on her arse, you can hardly say this. But relatively yes.
Whatever, he went for this approach and that was HIS decision.
He wanted to redo the logo and i think, apart from that throbbing hard cock right in the middle, he hit the mark quite well.
The fox is still sensual/sexual and has that sophisticated gentlemans connotation that i'm sure that bunny represented once upon a time.

Oh my god you all are missing the point COMPLETELY. This is obviously a conceptual STUDENT PROJECT. Of course Playboy isn't going to change their logo. Did any of you go to school?
Conceptual exercise. Executed wonderfully.

i think it is an interesting approach, however I would still like for the bunny to be around...

I like it and think its a great idea.
Playboy is not what it used to be... not because the magazine changed but because the audience and their expectations have changed. I think they need a new male target audience... instead of going for the horny curious kid, why not target the young man that actually is curious about male related topics and wouldn't mind seeing a good looking chick in between.
Making Playboy a hybrid of original playboy (classy nude chicks), a little bit of mens health, a little bit of GQ... The idea would be to have the magazine be way more high-end and geared towards a more mature audience. The key is to make playboy a magazine you can read on the subway and not look like a perv.
With that being said this concept is perfect. its about the elegant high class man now, not the bunny (chick)
The fox is much more stronger, sleek and stylish. The bow tie represents the tradition of the old brand and how much better their new brand is...
as for the logo itself, I think its 90% there, with some more tweaking and its gold. I personally love the bow tie. just my 2¢
and you have your self the next evolution of playboy.

I read that blog everyday and followed this with much interest. That said, he may as well have just started a new magazine.
Taking nudity completely out of that magazine changes the magazine 1,000,000% over. It's illogical.
tigerlou - I fully respect that it's a student project, but as a professor grading this, I would have to say that it missed the mark. The execution is fantastic, the quality of the work is great. It had tons of work put into it. But you don't completely change a magazine like Playboy in the way this was done.
Not only that, but the guy missed a great opportunity to work with nudity and shove it down people's throats as part of the project. What college kid chooses to NOT do that when presented with the opportunity :D
- I agree, it would be a cool icon/brand for a competing magazine, but remove the nudity and it's useless._niko
- What college kid chooses to NOT do that when presented with the opportunity"
One that doesn't want to look like every other college kid...tigerlou - HEY LOOK GUYS, MG33 IS NOT A FUCKIN RETARDED LIKE U.dMullins
