NEW YORK—Several NBA scouts confirmed Monday that Thunder forward Kevin Durant's recent success in both the regular season and playoffs could prompt more teams to draft very tall players. "We've been following Kevin Durant very closely to see how the Thunder's 'tall-player experiment' would work out, and we've come to the conclusion that players 6-foot-8 and above have the potential to be very effective in the NBA," said Minnesota Timberwolves scout Brent Haskins, acknowledging that many basketball skeptics believed Durant’s tallness would be a disadvantage on the court and that his closeness to the rim would impede his ability to score. "This is a whole new model for the league and could play into the draft quite a bit. We are definitely thinking about going with someone tall this time around." Cleveland Cavaliers scout Trent Redden said that based on Glen "Big Baby" Davis' poor performance in the playoffs, fewer NBA teams would probably draft fat, useless fucks.

Definitely think the Heat has this in the bag. The Mavs havent played a team like the Heat yet, with 2 guys that will punish you. Like the Bulls, the Mavs only have 1 real major threat, and a bunch of guys that are either old or just good. The Heat have 2 great players, the Mavs really dont, and in the end that will be the difference.
So Lebron will get his ring, and the haters are gonna hate, I dont think he really gives a shit.
- lol haven't played with "2 guys that will punish you" like Durant and Westbrook? Gasol and Kobe? Dumb.sublocked

Im a Knicks fan, but I think the Heat are going to be a serious problem for years. The move Lebron made starts to make sense when you think about it. This is just their first year together and they are already the best team.
If Wade is having an off night, Lebron destroys you, and vice verse, and god forbid they're both playing well, they are almost unbeatable.
The Lakers run is over, the Spurs and Celtics both look like they're done, the Thunder are not good enough with Westbrook's ego, and the Knicks have a chance but dont have the defense yet. Seriously if the Heat won the next 3 would anyone be surprised at all?
- Bulls could be a problem, but they need another great player. Seems having 1 isnt enough anymore.CygnusZero4

The Lakers run is over? If they pick up Dwight Howard next year, it's just beginning again.
- Dwight needs to step his game up in a lot of ways.duckseason
- Higher than 44+ pts in a game when everyone else on his team bitches out?********
- Kobe is old genius. Who's going to replace that kind of talent? Noone. Its over for them now.CygnusZero4
- Kobe is old? Jordan stopped playing at 40. Kobe is like 32 or something.********
- Any of the league's all-stars can have stand out games. His average for the season was more around 24ppg.duckseason
- I just feel that unless he is right under the basket that he isn't so effective. Needs to step up his mid range shooting.duckseason

Finals Prediction: Heat in 6 games
- <duckseason
- Heat will definitely win, in 6 is my bet as well. Too much talent. Dallas hasnt played a team like them yet.CygnusZero4
- dibec0
GO DALLAS!
- DALLAS IN 6.dibec
- Haha, yeah right.CygnusZero4
- I am excited. Both teams are high caliber. Dallas is playing well, Heat just needs the last 3 minutes to win. Will be good.dibec

It's official, Dwight Howard said in an interview this weekend that he wants to stay in Orlando, but he needs more people around him, and he needs the city to get behind him more.
Meaning, "Fuck ya'll, I'm outta here next season" in NBA speak.

I think Heat are going to take this one, and I'm all for it. Let's get past Lebron's "Lord of the Rings"-esque saga and move on to the other great teams getting overshadowed by this BS in the media. Next year is going to be real fun. Nuggets, Sixers, Thunder, Grizz, Hawks are all young-ish teams that are going to light up the scoreboards in 2011-12.
Also, Cygnus. If Kobe's old, what do you have to say for Dirk? He too is 32 years old.

To all you Miami haters out there...
http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/r…
Dear America,
We address you as ambassadors of sorts from the culturally sovereign nation of Miami-Dade. It's recently come to our attention that the "Miami Heat," a professional sporting concern that represents our city in your National Basketball Association, has advanced to a series which will crown this organization's annual champion. This pleases us greatly. Yet, we can't help but notice that many American citizens and assorted riff-raff known as sports "journalists" and bloggers do not find our fans to behave in a manner that they find satisfactory. In an effort to further cultural understanding between our separate nations, we would like to explain why the good people of Miami are a different breed of fan, and then we would like to kindly invite you and yours to "suck on it" and "shut up."
As we understand it, many Americans grow up going to professional sporting games with their families. They are brainwashed, in a manner not so dissimilar to the troubling propaganda efforts of some of our mutual enemy nations, into pledging blind allegiance to a particular team from an early age. They are conditioned, according to a popular American propaganda song, to "root, root, root for the home team." It is our understanding that many Americans find the lack of this kind of fandom in Miami disturbing.
As you may not however be aware, according to a 2004 study by the United Nations, 59 percent of Miamians were born outside of the country in which the city was located. That is a far higher percentage than any city in the entire world. No other even comes close.
So you see, America, many of our citizens do not originally hail from countries that have much of a basketball culture. Many did not grow up going through the requisite "true fan" brainwashing programs that many American cities institute. In fact, our Miami Heat team was only established in 1988, which does not help matters. We are trying to catch up in this area, but we reserve the right to deem your criticism of our fans in this matter as "sort of racist" until then.
As you may also not be aware, our past recent experiences with sports have left us somewhat disillusioned. We have heard these folk tales of how our Miami Dolphins once completed the most perfect season in all of sports history. While a great local hero of Dan Marino managed to lead us through many a battle (but never all the way), the team recently has devolved into a teal colored shit show that hardly remembers what a quarterback is actually supposed to do topped with a J.Lo cherry in the owners box. Meanwhile, our Marlins once won the World Series only to completely sell every star player off in the off season. Actually, wait, that happened twice. The Marlins hold the dubious distinction of being the only MLB team to have never lost a post-season series, and have recently decided to screw us with the bill for their new stadium. (We also are told there is something called a "hockey" team right over our border. We do not understand what this "hockey" game is, and refused to respond to it.) So surely you can see why pride in local sports has been low of late.
We are also under the understanding that many Americans have come to view a tribe of people known as "Rich Douches" as representative of all Miami Heat fans. Do not misunderstand, relations between Rich Douches and real Miamians are sound. We greatly appreciate the economic impact of the Rich Douche people and regularly court their tourism. Yet, they do not represent our culture as a whole, and many of us do not fully understand their customs. They seem to wear sun glasses inside, only show up to events (often late) just so that they can brag that they were there, and thanks to cocaine addled attention spans cannot concentrate on much. Unfortunately, these Rich Douches have more disposable income and time to spend on increasingly expensive sporting tickets, and show up to Heat games in great numbers. Yes, the Rich Douches are a part of the cultural tapestry that is Miami-Dade, but most Miamians are simple, hard-working people who do not own bedazzled T-shirts.
In fact, as you may be aware the recent economic downturn has affected our Nation-State greatly. An American magazine known as Forbes ranked as the second most miserable city this year. Our unemployment rate sits at 13.3 percent, far great than America's. The foreclosure crises hit us especially hard, and our real estate market sits in shambles.
The recent success of the Miami Heat has given us a bright spot of pride during an especially bleak economic time, yet you surely understand why the Rich Douches dominate our court-side seats.
Though, the recent success of the Miami Heat lead by a man known as LeBron James (who we understand why you hate. We are not completely oblivious.) has gotten us excited. We have celebrated wildly after series wins over the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. Apparently this does not please you Americans. We are struggling to understand why you criticize us for not being good enough fans, and then slam us for celebrating our team. Someone must please explain this to us.
Hopefully, this clears matters up. Though, if you would like we could also further explain the fact that we are on our own system of time keeping known as the "Miami Time Zone," the fact that our city features many other diversion and we do not tend to spend as much time sitting at home drinking Budweiser alone while yelling at ESPN, or the simple fact that celebrating your teams when they are doing well and tending not to take it too personally when they kind of suck leads to a much happier state of mind. (Because honestly, we have enough misery of our own then to latch on to the misery and miscalculations of our millionaire athletes and the team's rich owners.)
Sincerely,
The Culturally Sovereign Nation-State of Miami-Dade.

Scottie Pippen making some strong comparisons between Jordan and Lebron..
"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play the game. I may go so far as saying LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game."

He hasn't even won a championship yet. Its probably inevitable, they will win this year but it all this Lebron talk is hype. Lebron is the best player ever because ... the NBA is telling us he is. When he smashes tons of records and has like 3 rings it'll be for real.
