mtgox != Bitcoin
- lvl_130
we know mtgox does not equal bitcoin. but it does show how "unsecure" it actually is while placing huge trust in places like mtgox.

anyone here missing bitcoin or losing them because of this mtgox thing? Also, what did happen to CableStudio? he was a strong proponent of this and i haven't seen a post recently?

Feb 25 (Reuters) - Mt. Gox, once the world's largest bitcoin exchange, is "at a turning point," CEO Mark Karpeles told Reuters in an email, as the trading website remained down on Tuesday after halting withdrawals earlier in February.
In an emailed response to a question of whether the Tokyo-based exchange was dead, Karpeles said: "We should have an official announcement ready soon-ish. We are currently at a turning point for the business. I can't tell much more for now as this also involves other parties." http://www.reuters.com/article/2…

Fed Doesn't Have Authority to Regulate Bitcoin, Yellen Says
The central bank's chief says it's not so easy to regulate the virtual currency, because there's no central issuer or network operator.- how is that back? I took that as a "we don't want to have anything to do with them"formed

until there is some sort of central player, or insurance program, etc., it'll never get further.
How can an average citizen put money into something where the owner can just take all their money and retire? There's no accountability (yet). For that to happen, the Fed (or someone) needs to recognize it (which Yellen just said that they can't).
It's like buying stock buy never really sure if the company you are buying even exists. Could go up 1000% or could disappear in a second.
Total speculators game, riskier than ever.

That's hilarious!
