Just saw this new Korg "electribe" today...interesting Ableton integration but I think an iPad is better for mobile beatmaking.

^ Yeah the electribes sound a bit flakey too, not been impressed by any of the showcases of it.
The Volca Sample on the other hand is another story. Santa Claus brought me one and I have to say this little box is one of the hardware highlights of the year! Some folk might say its the Elektron Rytm but due to its sheer simplicity, fun and affordability I say the Volca Sample is the winner of 2014.

Have not played with any of the Volca stuff, but I've been having a lot of fun with Korg Gadget for iPad. Really deep production capabilities and also ableton live export!
