ouch...
ableton + ni blocks + ni replika + ni solid bus comp = slow render
i think it is that my blocks sound is too automated / complicated.
anyone else have a similar issue?
send a - replika
send b - solid bus comp5 midi tracks
1 - drum rack w/ 12 samples
0% replika 100% solid bus comp2 - drum rack w/ 4 samples
66% replika 15% solid bus comp3 - drum rack w/ 1 sample
100% replika 0% solid bus comp4 - massive
50% replika 25% solid bus comp5 - blocks
75% replika 15% solid bus comp...ish...
it had no problem being played live as I recorded the performance from scene to scene. I was able to listen to playback effortlessly as I adjusted the instruments and delay / compression settings before export.
I did no midi consolidation or track freezing before export. I never do, so today's workflow is no different than other days. This export time is far and beyond anything ever experienced.

i have had time to send a friend a mastering article i found while looking into this slow render issue as it's the first time i have ever experienced it.
i've also been able to compose this and i am still only at 36% of Searching for maximum amplitude: Master.
- it may have had a process interruption or something. As soon as I went to check the status of my processors, everything wrapped up in an instant. strange.imbecile
- Shouldn't really be THIS bad but some 3rd party plugs do oversampling on render, check all the quality settingsWeyland
- it must have been an interrupted process, other exports didn't yield a similar experience. In other news, ableton auto updated something today.imbecile

Reposted, forgot I was in Mod mode previously...
Were any of you lucky enough to buy a Korg Minilogue? Apparently everyone on earth is out of them. Watched a ton of demo videos this past week and really want to get one to replace my Alesis Micron that isn't outputting sound anymore, and that I never really liked all that much in the past few years.

Are any of you familiar with Telefon Tel Aviv? Sadly they are no more as one of their members passed away in 2009. They've had one of my favorite electronic sounds for a long time, really nice mix of analog and digital sounds. Here's a great article on their recording processes, gear, etc.

And one of their best tunes:
- Yeah was really stoked on that album when it came out years ago.sublocked

For you Logic users, when you're recording midi drum patterns, do you record them all in one track at first, and then split them out into different tracks to keep the individual sounds separate (ex: kick, high hat, snare, sound effects)?
Typically I'm just doing a scratch track to get an idea out, but to really polish stuff off I'm trying to get my mind around splitting everything out into individual tracks.
Even better, is there a way to automate this so Logic splits it all out without you have to copy notes to all the new tracks?
- Obviously, wanting to EQ and apply different effects on different sounds, I guess it makes sense to split it all out.mg33
- Can't you just send each drum to it's own track while you record?nb
- Yep - I always have them on their own tracks - there is a way of automatically splitting onto different tracks from ultrabeat but I don't really use that much.fadein11
- https://www.youtube.…fadein11
- "Press the X key to open the mixer and make sure you're selected on the Ultrabeat channel. Press the channel's multi-output button 15 times to create thefadein11
- individual outs. Shift-click all the created tracks in the Mixer so they're all selected. Right-click and choose “Create Track”, then close the Mixer."fadein11
- alternatively just create a new track for each sound if not using ultrabeat.fadein11
- I've noticed that with Drummer and Ultrabeat, that you can access individual channels consisting of all the sounds.mg33
- you can indeed - see above.fadein11
- Sweet, thank you!mg33
- One thing with logic is (and ableton) the amount of videos on youtube - little 3minute jobbies - and often v.good. I have used it a lot but prob only actuallyfadein11
- know about 25% of what it can do - always hunting down those little videos. just avoid the vids that claim to tell you how to make a certain style of music lolfadein11
- I'm sure you know this by the way - my point was I find music how to vids on youtube far better than graphic design how to's.fadein11

mg, there may be a better way to do this but here's how i'd go about it.
in the environment - create a new mapped instrument and hook it up to your instrument channels
reassign a blank channel in the arrange window to Mixer > [instrument name]
double clicking on the mapped instrument opens a window where you map the incoming notes to whatever output and note/channel etc.
you could also use a channel splitter in the same way and use the notes' channel in the piano roll to determine the instrument (which is sometimes better as mapping melodic stuff is a pain in the arse)
- Thanks a lot! I think what fadein linked to below might be somewhat similar to this.mg33
- yep thats the way i would usually do it with ultrabeat too, this way is a bit out there but lets you use different AUs for different drums/ note ranges...kingsteven

All I see are clouds above my head
Dark clouds and cloth clouds where I’ve laid my bed
A city sleeps in slumbers as the summer settles under a blue skyIts a dark sky tonight
All I hear’s a constant radio
The stars can shout so loud but of what I’ll never know
It’s a far cry from the soft light of the moonlightIt’s a dark sky tonight
It’s a dark sky tonight

Teenage Engineering about to drop the new OS for the OP-1.
There's lots of rumours flying around with regards to what is being included in this new OS.This latest update may be the final decider on whether or not I keep this little synth or not.
- i have been so lusting after this, but the battery is always the thing which stops me..autoflavour
- i dont think the battery is an issue. it just lasts and lasts and lasts. Ones that are years old are still going strong.microkorg
- if/when they start dying I'm sure a solution will be found.microkorg
- yeah, its not the now problem i am worried about.. but i have a tendency to own synths for a while.. I still have my TR707 which I got in 1996autoflavour

The Most Successful Labels in Hip Hop
Every hip hop record label, since 1989, sorted by their artists' chart performance on Billboard
In hip hop, so much can be explained by the rise and fall of record labels.
Lil Wayne's ascent is the story of Cash Money. The Dirty South starts with LaFace Records. The east-coast/west-coast feud is Bad Boy vs. Death Row. In hip hop, the artist-label relationship isn’t just a business deal, but a commitment to an identity.

A little while ago I started on some designs for tshirts that I wanted to get printed for myself. One of my mates suggested that other people might want to get their hands on these designs so I set up a little online shop using threadless and added to the gear collection.
If you've got any suggestions of gear that you'd like to see represented graphically like this then leave a note on here or instgram etc
