Quick rough idea I've been working on over the weekend using the new drum sounds I picked up. As long as I've been making music my rule has been that I've succeeded if anyone other than me likes something I made. I was playing this in the car this morning while taking my kids to school, and my daughter said "let's listen to this tonight after we read a story so I can sleep to this." We listen to a lot of slow music at both kids bedtimes. Was a nice moment seeing her like this.
- so fucking lovely, man! love the drums & the melody is gorgeousmantrakid
- Thank you! I really appreciate that. These drums have opened a big new door for me.mg33
- This has a Mogwai vibe to it. Good shit!section_014

Brain: "You've got an album to finish mixing."
Also Brain: "They just added instruments to Rust, why not do a cover of Pacific State for absolutely no fucking reason (there's not even a Saxophone)"
Also Brain: "Impulse buy Elektron Model:Samples because now you have no free time whatsoever."
Also Brain: "That distorted TD-3 sounds nice."

- it's so late 80s / 90s with a hint of grain synthesis - i reckon the designers are progheadshans_glib

- Sounds so HQ, so clean, so hi-fi, so inoffensive to the point where it's sound completly boring.shapesalad

- i'm feline thisprophetone
- sounds great and those knobs! i passed on buying an original for 200 quid once upon the 90skingsteven

- i love how he mentions the dust brothers and shows a photo of the wrong dust brothers ie. the chemical brothers and then a photo of younger chemical brotherskingsteven
- for the chemical brothers, then somehow mispronounces DEVO 'notable users' indeed hahkingsteven

I've never given music making a real go. Big into electronic, synths, etc. Thinking 2020 could be the year to make a little investment (<$1000) and see if I actually enjoy it.
Any recommendations? Should I start with software/kits only? Get a keyboard/controller?
- Software is fine but honestly I would get some hardware all in one box like the new Roland mc101 or mc707autoflavour
- Only as it’s a sandbox as you can learn a lot more when your tools have limitations.. software possibilities are endless and people loose hopeautoflavour
- Get the mc101.. learn it inside out.. then add to it..autoflavour
- Very helpful, and that logic makes sense to me. Thanks for the help, auto.noRGB
- Should I go for the Compact or Standard size? I don't know a ton, but 4 tracks seems a bit limited.noRGB
- YouTubing around, stumbled on this. https://synthstrom.c…noRGB
- yeah i'm sure you see how much hardware we buy and sell, auto is right in whatever you get learn the absolute fuck out of it :Dkingsteven
- was always left cold by the deluge, the 707 or an elektron octatrack would be my shout for hardware but on the cheaper end...kingsteven
- 101 novations circuit or the elektron model samples are great boxes if you throw yourself at them. same goes with software...kingsteven
- every synth, drummachine, DAW you buy make an educated purchase (based on the music you want to make) and learn it inside out.kingsteven
- i sometimes despair at the consumerist aspect of it but the ideas flow when you're getting familiar with something new...kingsteven
- it even works with guitars (which are all 99% the same shit) or something as simple as a new reverb plugin...kingsteven
- if your favourite producers are using DAWs check out what they're using. Ableton suite and a few synths and plugins would eat up your budget tookingsteven
- so it's difficult to suggest one or the other, but at least if you pack it in with hardware you can get some of your money back by selling it :Dkingsteven
- Look I’m a huge elektron nerd, but I would never recommend them as a first device.. the learning curve is steep and it can be very frustrating the first bitautoflavour
- Depends on budget.. I would say go with the 707 if u can afford it, or the 101 knowing u will probably want to buy the 707 later if u get into itautoflavour
- 4 tracks is limited .. but limitations can be your friendautoflavour
- Sandboxes devices can be frustrating once you learn them inside out, but that will take a while and by that stage you will know if you are wanting to go deeper.autoflavour
- I decided a $200 investment with Logic was the most affordable for me.noRGB
- Couple hours today learning Logic. Awful, but fun. https://drive.google…noRGB

Browsing music portfolio sites for a little inspiration as I finish up a site for my new project. Found this and the interface and such are fantastic. Cool music too.

I already missed a day but I’m thinking I might do a jamurary..
Any u clowns down to make something each day?
- it's a tough job but someone's got to do it. i could perhaps commit to one a week, bu one a day...

Found a Mini-Korg 2 and a Realistic Concertmate-600 in the basement of my apartment. That Mini-Korg 2 is a beast with low end. A monophonic analogue synth is a treasure, going for 4k on reverb...
Forced myself to make an album's worth of material in five days with said synths. Here it is.
- really nice. although 4k is daft. the most actually paid for one was <2k and it was as new. 400 would be more realistic.kingsteven
- left this on Chapter V while in the shower - girlfriend busts in like "your computer is making weird noises" i think she thought it was about to explode.kingsteven
- well, i need to do more research ha! thanks for listening Ksteven!caterpus
- very nice stuff!mantrakid

Does anyone here have the OP-Z from Teenage Engineering?
I am thinking of buying one for myself as a birthday gift :)
But yeah, seeing some mixed reviews.. specially when it comes to its complexity...- it sounds fucking awesome. what it's like to use i don't know, but i watched some blokey playing it a while back and was blown away by the soundhans_glib
- Yeah, im gonna look into it.
I am trying to find good portable music production device, so I can stay away from computer and still do stuffFabricio

- Cool sounds, but pretty uninspiring for this series. Seems like he just cued up a bunch of shit that was already in his Octatrack.section_014
- a lot of it was just being sequenced from the octatrack on the nord drum and digikat but i get that... still one of my favourite against the clocks and not thekingsteven
- ... worst i've seen for using preset sounds.kingsteven
- I super dig the diy plate reverbprophetone
- yep would love to know more about that. i'm trying to sort out a sonic pen myselfhans_glib
