yurimon, I'm sorry but you're insane. It really hurts my brain thinking about how you come up with this stuff.

One chooses to eat unhealthy and get fat. The process weight gain is slow, recognizable, and reversible. One does NOT choose whether they take a bullet to the head or not. The process is fast, and you cannot reverse it. To compare the two is simply moronic. You're grasping at anything and everything to try to keep afloat in the argument.

By your logic, let's also ban old age... because old age also causes many deaths. We could come up with shit all day long...

    • The eating part was more joking. but statistically what kills higher then gun violence is prob cars and drug overdose legal, illegalyurimon
    • legal drug and illegalyurimon
    • Cars are an entire other tool. And people use cars SO much more than they use guns. Of course there are going to be moreCanHasQBN
    • Them you're arguing for the sake of argument. Its tiring and immature.instrmntl
    • actually, service members do sign a waver.antagonlsta
    • more car deaths than gun deaths. Besides it's a tool for people to get to work... to keep LIVING.CanHasQBN

im sure it's been said before.
at least in the US, it's easier to attain a gun than it is to attain the medical attention that a madman might need in able to diagnose mental instability and treat.

acts of madmen do not stop at unattainable. and lack of a gun will not stop crazy in its search to harm people.

what happened to those children was a tragedy beyond measure. every parent's worst nightmare in vivid detail that the press made sure not to miss. and this is the time to be talking about gun control legislation on a national level; to shy away would be shameful.

but the answer can not be, "Burn them all" and we need real world solutions that takes every interested party into consideration.

because guns and madmen are not going to disappear tomorrow.

Dick’s Sporting Goods, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, has suspended sales of some semi-automatic rifles from all stores.

Also today, Walmart announced it no longer will sell the Bushmaster Patrolman's Carbine M4A3 Rifle through its online store.

That military-style assault rifle is in the same family of guns as the one Lanza reportly used in the massacre, the Huffington Post reports.

    • You could buy that at Walmart?ukit2
    • apparentlydbloc
    • YOU COULD BUY IT AT WALMART.COMnb
    • You need a gun license. It doesnt matter who sells them, not everyone can buy them.CygnusZero4

Some circumstance of gun ownership have prevented and kept people safe and in other circumstances people have been killed unjustly.

When the crime is successful it gets more statistical credit and more press. I am sure there are incidences unreported in preventive cases. its not so easy to weigh for the simple fact.

The connecticut case is another beast. You have a series of similar shootings where guns was used in a crime but is not the primary cause of the crime. The cause of the crime is the an individual deciding to commit the a crime and the conditions that have brought this person into the state of mind to act.

The similarity in some of these cases like batman, gilfords or columbine. is Medication, which is a catalyst. More facts need to be brought out who, what and respective affiliations. I am not ruling anything out in this case because of similarity but still holding out for more facts which are not completely represented or looked into.

So Sorry I aint falling for it so quickly. Is it possible that I would agree with restrictions on certain weapons? possibly. Right now in the news it appears like manufactured consent.

    • If you think it's even remotely possible that guns have saved more lives than they have taken, you are delusional.nb
    • You are only right if you are referring to war. Crime is a different situation.yurimon
    • No, it really isn't.nb
    • Do you realize that what you're saying is, "Guns save lives"? Do you understand what delusional means?nb

    • If I was in danger and I can defend myself then yes, its saved my life. maybe not that of the perpyurimon
    • If I have a family and can defend them however i do it. then yes I saved them as well.yurimon
    • Your example sounds like it's from the script of a bad TV show. Real life isn't like that.nb
    • Regardless, there is simply no way that guns could be considered to save more lives than they take. Think about it.nb
    • nb, you delusional? You cant scream guns kill people and not allow for guns to save people. Guns dont kill people, people with guns sometimes kill people and ... people with guns sometimes save people. Why else do the cops, security have them? Get off your delusional high horse...whhipp

I like how all the anti-gun people only attack the gun, like removing it will solve the problem... who cares if it's a knife, gun, or swizzle sticks they attack with? The solution is repairing / tending to the individual, not removing a weapon of choice from society.

i can understand how you come to that conclusion though as dismissing those who oppose you is a first resort but ultimately a failure for all involved on your own behalf.

    • You're not allowed to make sense here.CygnusZero4
    • The problem is KILLING WITH GUNS. That's the problem everybody's talking about. It's only you and a couple of otherFax_Benson

Today is a week until Christmas. Maybe we can just put these unwinnable and circular arguments to a rest, and simply mourn for these little ones.

  • pr20

And in related post, sales of the VERY SAME handgun type and the assault rifle that killed all those kids jumped 40% in last week.

Which makes you ask what kind of people buy these?
-- Are they political activist trying to persuade every one that it's not the guns that kill people but people?

-- Are these certified imbeciles who "read" ( in actuality probably saw on TV) about the massacre but were to intellectually incapacitated to bother reading further into the article to see the kind of weapon that was used?

-- Are the people who are so self absorbed that they can't see that buying the exact same weapon makes you look, AHEM, like you gonna follow in the killers steps?

As European i was always fascinated by America because this country never really made sense. Now that i live here is truly is infuriating.

    (link to 40% stats:

    • similar thing happened to sales of the bronco type oj drove.yurimon

So... you all want to make guns illegal? Is that what you want? Or stricter rules and regulations? What is it?

Because... you know in this latest school shooting he got the guns that were owned legally by his mother... so only the solution in this case would be complete removal of guns in anyones hands. I doubt you all want complete removal, right? You all dont really suggest over-riding our Constitutional rights, do you?

    • how about implement a law that if your gun is not in your sight, it must be disassembled and locked away in two different room of the house.pango
    • room of the house. just so little fuckers don't get to them.pango
    • we suggest "actually reading" the Constitutionpr2
    • how the hell is that regulated? seriously?whhipp
    • it's a good practice that country which has lower gun violent requires their gun owners to do.pango
    • for the safty of everybody. why not? is it because it's inconvenient for you to have fun with it?pango
    • its a great idea, sure, but not able to be regulated.whhipp
    • hmm ya its possible. are you saying the greatest country USA can't do what other country can do?pango
    • so go into peoples homes a do a search without warrant? yes we dont do that here.whhipp

i'd be ok with guns if they could only shoot one bullet at a time and required a time consuming reloading process. Basically, black powder rifles are fine.

    Ok big shot ;)

    Amendment II

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
