It seems to me that americans are completely sue-happy, they sue everyone and blame everyone for the most ridiculous things, how hard is it to sue firearm manufacturers?
seems like a no-brainer.
- For once I'd like to see people protest at gun shops.robotron3k
- I'm sure they free themselves from any liability when you buy a gunqoob

In USA, you can buy guns made to go to war but you cant show a nipple on tv. and when you hack naked pics of scarlett johansson, you get 10 years in prison... 10 fukin years! This is ridiculous! (http://www.buzzfeed.com/jtes/sc...

I was at this mall 24 hours to the minute before the shooting so this hit close to home.
Clackamas Mall is on the outskirts of town heading towards Mt Hood National Forrest. Past the mall is pretty rural and the times I've been there I've seen plenty of people wearing their best Carhart and Camouflaged hunting gear. To put it lightly lots of gun owners/hunters shop there so I doubt he was the only one packing heat that day.
I'm the first to admit I wish this guy was able to unload his clip into the sicko on a rampage killing him and save the day and be a hero but by his own admission he said he couldn't get a clear shot so he took cover and hid like everyone else. Thank god he was trained enough to know that having a shoot out against a heavily armed psychopath in a crowded mall wasn't the right decision. The only thing that saved more lives was the gun jamming and or running out of ammo so he could't kill as many people before turning the gun on himself like every other mass murder does.
So he wasn't a hero just an innocent bystander and/or victim... Not everyone with a concealed weapons permit is Jason Bourne or John McClane.

sorry pro gun folks. Carrying a gun doesn't protect you unless you have extensive training like the police. If anything it makes you a target.
- Love it when the guy shoots himself in the foot.calculator
- very interesting
benfal99 - the flaw with this is experiment the instructor will shoot at the main target first to prove a pointmoldero
- but still, fuck gunsmoldero
- action vs reaction is something they teach a lot in gun training, even a cop or a soldier cant react in timemoldero
- thats why they train a lot to try to lessen the gap, but all they can do is lessen the gapmoldero

This thread is getting clogged up with people defending gun ownership. We need the space to catalogue all the people being killed by guns. Start your own thread.

Video games per se don't create killers. It's the whole desensitisation to violence that is more disturbing than anything. Violent images, videos, movies, games, music, wars, news...you can't escape being exposed to violence in one form or another.

Part 2 of the previous video i posted.

Absolutely.
And clearly part of the problem is the lack of education about guns.
I learnt to shoot (and still shoot) .22 target rifle with one of these. They're cumbersome, ugly, and bloody heavy. They are single shot, bolt action which means manual reloading after each shot.
http://www.targetshooting.co.nz/…
I do this at a registered rifle club, as you might expect.Recently the club has bought some of these rifles:
They use the same ammunition as the rifle I use, but are far less accurate. No matter, they look COOL. And they're semi automatic (they reload after each shot, but do not then fire automatically). So you just keep pulling the trigger until the magazine is empty. They look like the guns you get in video games. The club I attend is, frankly, full of weirdos and all kinds of people you wouldn't want anywhere near a gun, who just like to come down and shoot guns. They're not particularly interested in the discipline or skill of shooting. And given the choice between learning to shoot on an old single shot rifle or one of these assault rifle look-a-likes which do you think they choose?
My point being that learning to shoot on those old single-shot guns must give you a completely different attitude to gun use, than doing so on an AR lookalike, however much safety advice you receive.
I relayed my concerns about this to a club official who looked at me like I was a moron.
