America population 311,591,917
violent crime in the us = 1,200,000UK population 63,181,775
Violent crime in the uk 1,371,000FUCKING WHITEY!!!!
- chossy0
So uk has 3 times the amount of violent crime per 100,000 but the USA has four times the murder rate per 100,000.
He never says that in his video.
However I do agree that sorting out areas of poverty is the correct way to approach the situation.

What I get from those stats is that if the UK had guns, then that violent crime would become deadly crime.

The two violent crime rates are not directly comparable, found this elsewhere but felt it was worth posting:
The UK rate includes common assault -- simple assault, no injuries, the lowest level of assault.
The US rate does not.
The crime survey data shows that 37% of the "violent crimes" reported were "common assault (no injury)".The UK figures include "sexual offences". The US figures include only "forcible rape".
8% of the recorded crime figure for violent crimes in the UK is "other violence". Where is that in the US figures?
15% of the recorded crime figure for violent crimes the UK is "harassment". Where is that in the US figures?
5% of the UK survey-reported crime is "snatch theft" as distinct from "robbery".- I thought it was a pretty breath taking statistic!!!chossy
- Makes sense to me and pretty simple. http://www.youtube.c…yurimon

UK record violent crime differently than the US. Lots of distortion in trying to compare unfortunately. Even comparing UK's old and new way of recording crime is opaque.... IMO it makes using stats for greater good a little pointless when government fudge the methodology.
- 'Common Assault' is probably the big change. I've been victim of 'common assault' 7 times. The worst of those was someone hitting me with a bike chain.orrinward2

- real sorry to hear that bro.LukeO

The main point though is that the poorer areas get a hammering, which is no surprise.

There seems to be a lot of people in this debate referencing that while UK has a much lower murder rate than the US, it has a much higher violent crime rate. Why is this?
Well, 'violent crime' in the UK covers a whole range of offence, a high proportion of which don't involve any injury they are:• Wounding
• Assault with minor injury
• Assault without injury
• Robbery
• Violence with injury
• Violence without injury
• Domestic violence
• Acquaintance
• Stranger
• Mugging (robbery + snatch theft)source:http://www.guardian.co.uk...
http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/pub…The US defines violent crime differently:
• murder and nonnegligent manslaughter
• forcible rape
• robbery
• aggravated assault- sexual offences are classed separately: http://www.ons.gov.u…BaskerviIle
- as pointed out above, I mean in the US only 'forcible rape' is covered, but in the UK lots moreBaskerviIle

Quote from the British Crime Survey:
"The 2010/11 BCS estimated that 45 per cent (992,000) of all violent incidents did not involve injury."I'd be intrigued to see similar stats for the US
- If there is no injury then there is no crime. basic principle of law.yurimon
- if they mean theft, its a form of injury just not physical harm. if individual was not threatened or present during a theft.yurimon
- You're wrong, again.Morning_star
- actually, he's right. but, the retard should have used the word "damages," which can cover anything from cash to psychmonospaced

- I think my statement is fine i checked it over. Damages come from injury. I ♥ You.yurimon

@ Yurimon
A violent crime or crime of violence is a crime in which the offender uses or threatens to use violent force upon the victim.
In the UK the threat of violence is a crime.- <chossy

i have no problem with people and their guns. i guess i see it as to each their own. those people up there walking down the street strapped with semi automatics, i think that's kind of weird but it isn't illegal and in their case, it's more of a political statement. to be honest, we'd be surprised just how many people *do* have a firearms at their side. (just because we don't see them doesn't mean their not there.)
in chicago, they just repealed the concealment laws. which means for decades the state and city has been breaking constitutional law. (and i don't think that is right.) i believe the 2nd amendment is there to ensure that the government stays in a position that favors it's citizens. in the end we as a people have the right to revolt. This also supports freedom of speech, for what is the right to speak freely, if we can protect it as citizens?
i guess that's the ultimate debate for constitutionalist.
- Thanks for taking the time to type this out. A well-reasoned response, in my opinion (for what that's worth).melq
