Yup, sure is a strange move. Solidifies their move to become a fashion brand (or try to, Beats seems like the worst possible choice, imho, and downgrade's Apple's quality image....unless you are 12).
Looks like we'll see a camera next, along with the TV....here comes the next Sony! And we see where they are...

It is abundantly clear that Apple can not innovative and lead the technology pack without Steve Jobs.
Apple needs to become more like Google, Microsoft, etc... and acquire other technologies and companies if they want to thrive and stay alive.

This was purely for hollywood connections in my view (as speculated elsewhere too). Music and TV/Movies industry deals that Lovine can make that no one else at Apple would be capable of making. Apple TV / iTunes reinforcements. Plus, a streaming service highly praised and curated by heavy weigth musicians.
The headphone part is the weird thing. Not sure how that will integrate into current lineup..
