"iWatch, compatible only with the new iPhone6"
i think its the kind of thing Apple could do.
- might want to wait until Apple announces what it's even called, or what it ismonospaced
- and you have to tell the time via itunes with an icloud accountfadein11
- anyway, that would be stupid, the Gear watch is compatible with non-Android phones!monospaced

- like a 6g ipod nano? welcome to 2010kingsteven
- taking an existing product and putting it on the wrist is probably the opposite of what Apple is up tomonospaced
- not a wrist watch, I think they will not put it on the wrist, but rather reuse design language they already haveuan
- They DID take those square nanos off the market a few years ago. Which would hurt watch sales.nb

Here's an idea....what if you could have a LCD that turns back to glass/sapphire when not in use? Possible, right? Google glass projects, so why not on a watch face?
If you took a nice Swiss watch and added an on-demand screen to the sapphire, but it was a "real" watch otherwise, then you'd have something. More so, you could make it upgradeable, so if you paid for a nice watch, you could upgrade the tech every few years.
This would also save a ton on battery. Now that I'd start to consider. All these other things I've seen I'd kill for in jr high, but be embarrassed to have otherwise (kinda like putting a cell phone on your belt - makes sense, even functional, but damn it looks awful!)
- way too complicated for an apple product imho, also apple loses control over the applied devicemekk
- Not if they build the watch, most companies just design and spec the mechanical movement anyway (B+W, etc.)formed
- You are probably right, just trying to think of a way that I might actually care about it ;-)formed

I'm putting my money on it being more of a personal beacon that is deeply integrated with Health Kit and home automation. The beacon part works in the sense that it notifies the surroundings that you're nearby, hence setting lights/music/preferences and perhaps making other NFC pushes. I don't think this functionality will be only on the wearable either, it's obvious some of this will be on the iPhone too. The wearable part, in my opinion, is all about adding sensors for the health.
- the idea of having to read/write texts or emails on a wristwatch is ludicrous IN MY OPINIONmonospaced
- or facebook shit for that mattermonospaced
- yup, agreed, though with all the hacking going on (Home Depot now, larger than Target), and people proving home's are easy to hack....dunnoformed
- are easy to hack, dunno how all this will take. I, for one, am glad none of my nudies are in the cloud ;-)formed
- for once I agree with you mono - it will be something like that - not a portable galaxy gear type thing.fadein11
- we've agreed many times, because this is what I've always saidmonospaced

- If apple made that there'd be 6 pages in this thread about how shitty it is, actually.monospaced
- that looks shitty and annoyingfourth
- its ugly and useless. really.benfal99
- yeah. there would be endless memes and rants about how shit it looks and Apple's demise post-jobs era.inteliboy

Apple is wholly unoriginal ... and that's okay!
Whether it's larger phones, a smartwatch or a new mobile payments system -- all of which are rumored to be announced next week -- Apple will be following the lead of other companies that already have products on the market. That's prompting renewed criticism that the company has lost its ability to innovate following the death of former CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs.
- Many would argue that a larger screen is not innovationmonospaced
- who is the CEO of Samsung? that's right. no one knows or cares.inteliboy

Lots of details about the iWatch here : http://www.theverge.com/2014/9/5…
Can't wait for the health part of it!

as soon as I saw "it'll be an extension of your iPhone" that killed it for me. Why, on Earth, would anyone want to exercise with a phone on them?? I want a nice, simple, good looking bracelet to track fitness.
I do NOT want to replace my watch and look like some trend chasing teenager. No thank you.
To Org - Apple rarely has done anything revolutionary, but that doesn't matter because they take a great idea that someone else poorly executed and perfect it. It's the polish and design attention that has catapulted Apple to the top. Anyone could/should have done it, shit, they should have just started copying the design details 10 years ago!! Yet the rest out there are just a heard, chasing random ideas, then discarding, then another good idea, but thrown away before it can be refined. Stupid, imho.
The big question remains is that the "heard" is getting very close to the quality now and offering more flexibility (iTunes is almost a deal breaker fro many, especially as phones get larger storage, cameras are better...lack of expansion is also close to a deal breaker for thsoe of us that want to take more photos/videos...my stupid iPhone just told me I was "full" at the top of a mtn).
Personally, I think they've seen their glory days, now they just need to keep the cash machine going, which they can do, but they need to be more nimble, not expect the world to just wait 3 years for a real update.
