- clickbait title, but watch it, proper science, TLDR - go keto to reduce depression etc.shapesalad
- You keto/crossfit creeps are even worse than vegans for proselytising. And I'd rather listen to a vegan any day of the week.Continuity

'Eight glasses of water a day excessive for most people, study suggests'

'One issue is that previous estimates of water requirements have tended to ignore the water content of food, which can contribute a substantial proportion of our overall intake.'
- just drink when you're thirstypango
- Bingo.Continuity
- I only drink 3 glasses (49.16 ml) but I use a water retention crystal to improve my body's water absorption. It's worked wonders.palimpsest
- Haha, reminds me of my ex-GF's aunt and uncle (and cousins), who would put rose quartz in all of the water pitchers in the houseContinuity
- And then extoling all of the crackpot psuedo-scientific benefits to me ad nauseam. Took me everything I had not to scream at them they were stupid cuntsContinuity
- Fucking weirdos.Continuity
- It's what 70% of The Healthy Thread sounds like to me. Already 50% is about losing weight.palimpsest

"New study finds that fat consumption is the only cause of weight gain"
https://www.cell.com/cell-metabo…
https://www.abdn.ac.uk/news/1207…Debate
- Yeah, call me old school, but I think that it's eating calories in excess of your TDEE without exercising that makes you fat. And seeing as fat has 9 kcal/gramContinuity
- ... it won't take long on a steady diet of burgers and pizza.Continuity
- It's all about being fit. Under-fueling is also bad. A study showed that fasting makes mice live longer, but only caged laboratory mice.drgs
- Fasting mice running out in the wild lived shorter lives. It's just that fasting is a way to stay fit for non-exercising mice, drgs
- there is nothing good in calorie restriction per se.drgs
- dear study: eat excess sugar, don't exercise, please inform us of the increase of fat in the bodyimbecile

Avoid those veg/soya/seed oils at all costs!
Which means avoiding crisps and all those other junk processed foods.
Extra virgin Olive oil / Lard / Beef fat (wagyu is best, aldi have it in).

- As a species we are slowly contaminating our environment and selves... end of civilisation stuff.shapesalad
- tldr. its' safe if you dont heat it over 450f, scratch it, wash it in dishwasher. however not safer for people who makes it.pango
- or live around people who makes it.pango
- but also buy or use none stick pans as little as possible.pango

tldr: is ceramic coated cookware safe? we don't know.
- porcelain enamel coated cast iron is superiorimbecile
- yes after jumping into cookware rabbit hole, i've found a consensus. enamel cast iron, cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, real ceramic are all deemed topango
- be safer than teflon, and ceramic coated cookware. and safe in general.pango
- safe and some what none stick options are: cast iron, enamelled cast iron or carbon steel, carbon steel, stainless steel. but all required preheating.pango
- preheating takes time and experience. that's why it's harder to learn and less convenient. but general rule is preheat the pan till 200F with out oil for it topango
- become none stick. however frozen food can drop the temperature of the pan, so you need to watch out for that.pango
- I'm cast iron myself, but have always heard make water dance before you use your pan, i.e. leidenfrost effectimbecile
- i think occurs at 320F - 390Fpango
- but for none stick purpose above 200F is good enough.pango
- All you need is a carbon steel frying pan and a cast iron casserole pot.shapesalad

Metabolism does not slow down until 60
https://www.nbcnews.com/health/h…No such thing as age-related decline in testosterone
https://journals.plos.org/ploson…
(There is an increase in variance because of higher incidence of cancer/diabetes/deteriorating health in general etc as you grow older, but a serious illness would tank your T levels at any age, its just that old people are obviously more prone to it. If you stay healthy into your old age, your T levels stay the same)Having kids has a bigger impact on T levels

- it's a bit of a firmi paradox for longevity, that is if working out and running and eating a vegan/keto/mediterre... diet du jour and taking supplements and yo_niko
- yoga and meditation and suntanning your asshole all prolong your life, then where are all the old healthy people? everyone we see in their 90's and 100's look_niko
- like extras from the walking dead. I suppose that it's a newer trend and you didn't have access to the information or spare time in the 20s and 30's_niko

An evolutionary foraging instinct that relied on the sugar fructose may now be fueling the formation of Alzheimer’s disease
- Industrialised food processes, farming, pesticides etc, processed foods, veg oils, etc, = we are slowly poisoning ourselves.shapesalad
- Its says fructose produced in the brain, not sure if dietary fructose/fruits are involved in this pathwaydrgs
