any horror stories?
i still haven't upgraded.
- The free/scrub zoom in Photoshop doesn't work correctly, along with the tool button pop-outs. And using rulers *still* makes everything grind.face_melter
- The new security measures means that you can't change system icons - so if those neon blue folders burn your eyes, tough titties.face_melter
- Hardly horror stories, but the kind of shit that becomes annoying. Adobe are 'looking into' the zoom problem. Expect a fix in about three years.face_melter
- Its not like Apple just dropped this out of nowhere. Adobe had a copy probably before the dev version. Lazy on Adobes part.ArmandoEstrada

Damn they got rid of Widgets/Dashboard - you have to manually turn it back on in system settings... which is fine... But I guess it means Apple are phasing that out??? I use the fuck outa the dashboard - calculator, dictionary, weather, flights, unit converter, international time, etc etc. Bummer.
- I've used it about 3 times, 2 times accidentally.fadein11
- never use it.fyoucher1
- you might be one of the last ones, inteliboy ... i do use the app launchpad thoughmonospaced
- I use it when I hit F12 by mistake.CyBrainX
- I've disabled all those nonsense Apple function key... erm... functions. They interfere too much with C4D and Photoshop.face_melter
- Launchpad? Jaysus. What they say about you must be true, mono.shaft
- It's just a quick app launcher. You don't have to be a dick about it.monospaced
- I don't think it's useful at allernexbcn
- I was wondering what happened to my dashboard. I only used it for my calculator and it has such a slow load timeomg
- ...successfully moving all my dashboard functionality to the notifications center.omg
- you can do all of that and more right in spotlight http://osxdaily.com/…Mattjanz3n
- I do find it useful. It's an instant (press key) way to see all my most-used apps (lots), and launch with a click.monospaced
- don't be a dick, mono does NOT find this useful. fucking christ, guys!doesnotexist
- what the hell are you on about?monospaced
- you don't need to understand, and understanding won't make you happierdoesnotexist
- omg0
- perfect for ageing qbn'ersprophetone
- or people with high resolutions on retina displays... it happens sometimesmonospaced
- you could do this for awhile...plus, mono seems to think it happens sometimes. not sure what planet he's from.doesnotexist
- What happens sometimes is I lose the cursor on 2 30" displays. Okay?monospaced
- OKAY!!??set
- LISTEN HERE SEEset
- MRS. JOHNSON IS RIGHT!monospaced
- ok, jesus, you lose the cursor.doesnotexist

Works pretty well on my late 2011 mac book pro. Mission Control is kind of annoying for me at the moment as it tries to seperate my windows into 'seperate spaces'.

InDesign now crashes for me on startup. Nice!
- not for anyone heremonospaced
- fuck, Ian, do you think you're the only person with problems?!doesnotexist
- Haha. I thought Adobe and Apple only made their shit for me.Ianbolton

Ill consider it in about 6 months once they have most of the critical bugs worked out.
- The OS is fine - it's just the usual bullshit with Adobe not actually testing anything at any great length.face_melter
- (it's on my old MacBook Pro for testing - nothing wrong so far, with the same type of use - Photoshop, c4D etc.)face_melter

I have experienced no problems with El Capitan. Mail.app sometimes acts a bit weirdly, taking up a buncha memory for no apparent reason, but I have long been a user of Airmail anyway, so I easily avoid this. I've submitted reports about Mail.app anyway.
I half suspect that it's simply due to the age of my iMac (2010 ...) but I cannot justify upgrading it for a number of reasons.
I am about to start freelancing again out of sheer boredom (ASP.NET development, IE7-8 support... it gets to you no matter if the job pays well) so I thought "maybe I'll get a new MBP, something I can move around with".
But I'd have to face the facts:
* if Affinity Designer was released as a Chrome app or Android app, I'd buy a Chromebook Pixel.
* If Affinity was released for Windows, I'd buy a Microsoft Surface Book or Surface Pro.There's basically nothing keeping me tied to my iMac besides about three apps and that's why I've never upgraded it.
- TL;DR: El Capitan was fine for me and the times it has played up I have so far ascribed to the age of my iMac rather than OS instabilitywanda

OS X 10.11 El Capitan: Bugs, bugs, and more bugs..
Apple unleashed OS X 10.11 El Capitan just under two weeks ago, and if you've not already pulled the trigger on the upgrade then I suggest you put your upgrade plans on hold until the first update is out unless you like dealing with bugs.
- Weird, I haven't read about many people having 'bugs'. I know nothing is perfect but every time Apple updates everyone goes mad.ArmandoEstrada
- Worst bug is that Apple Mail does not work. Still waiting for them to update Mail so that it works properly.omg
- I have a hot-rodded old Mac Pro 5,1 with loads of third-party hardware and software that is running El Capitan waaaaay better than Yosemite ever was.evilpeacock
- I like dealing with bugs, thank you very muchnb
- Runs fine here. Except Pioneer haven't updated their DJM driver :/inteliboy

Airdrop is such a good idea. But has never bloody worked. Either I see the other computer, but it doesn't see me, or the other way around. Really flaky piece of shit that one. Just end up remotely going into the other computers harddrive manually. It's like being given this really nice feature, but have it work only 50% of the time... so you don't bother using it anymore.
Surely there's guys in that Apple office who experience this same shit and realise they need to fix it?
- Miguex0
do you guys don't care that things that are working fine will start to mess up? Why the immediate rush to upgrade? I don't understand it.
I remember being at an office last time OSX had an update and everyone was racing to download it and install it, they will chant about it and asked everyone "you haven't upgraded yet?"
It was kinda scary actually...

My MAME emulator doesn't work now. Thanks, El Capitan!
Maintenance release...my ass!
I want to go back to snow leopard.
- update: I'm back baby I'm back.docpoz
- I just had to change a setting in the mame prefsdocpoz
- Crisis averted. False alarm people.monospaced

Finder is very unstable for me.
Every now and then when I click on a tab it resizes itself to the display height and gets unresponsive.
It is very annoying, but apart from that every thing runs well and faster than Yosemite.
- i_monk0
I'll wait a few months, as usual. Let early adopters deal with the bugs.

Installing a fresh OS is like an itch you must scratch or you won't be able to sleep, isn't it?
I find it fascinating. Time and again, people, most of them depending on their computers for work, install a new OS the minute it's been released, get screwed by it, then go and lament online. Same with phones and tablets.
What is it? Short memory that made you forget last year's widely reported upgrade disaster, even if it was smooth for you?
Or is it a voice of "reason" in your head saying "your OS is obsolete, you must update immediately in order to keep your computer safe and working optimally"?
- —sent from my Mavericks, lolshaft
- no need to update to the latest but if you stay behind 2 or 3 versions more than likely you won't get security updatesernexbcn
- I don't mean "never update", didn't get Yosemite only because UI Helvetica looks off on pre-retina screens. I'll get El Cap'n when it's stable, 10.11.2 or so.shaft
- I wait a little while, but not too long. My main reason to update is to have the latest security.nb

When is OSXI being dropped?
It's been 15 years on 10 man. Lazy. Just damn Lazy!

Did a clean install. Runs pretty good here, feels more responsive than Yosemite.

I think they changed the audio drivers and added more bass. Beats aquisition influence?
My games sound like ass now.
