Went to a new parent / student orientation this afternoon at the school where my daughter will be starting first grade.

GASP!!! NOBODY BITCHED ABOUT WEARING MASKS!!! Every single parent and child had one on. Nobody even asked a single question about masks. Nobody asked when they'll get to stop wearing masks.

Here's to living in the north Chicago suburbs in a community full of people with empathy and compassion and the desire to do right by their little humans. The whole thing really made me feel rather joyful.

    • It’s nice to hear stories like this one rather than watch the horrible humans I posted in the video 2 posts down.Ramanisky2
    • the only people I heard bitch about masks here in Mexico were boomer Canadians and young AmericansGuyFawkes
    • I really don’t get why people are so crazy anti-mask. It’s not a big dealGnash
    • In my town the opposite is happening. The anti maskers are in full force and are all but physically attacking the school board about it. It’s so wrong.monospaced
    • My area looks like a place where smart, responsible people live. But under the surface it’s kinda vile. I’m legit jealous of your situation.monospaced
    • Ironically, their reasons are exactly the same. They think they are compassionate and doing right by their little children.monospaced
    • Mono, that sucks. We're lucky to be able to live where we live. North Chicago suburbs, pretty consistently middle-upper middle class, educatedmg33
    • and just to the west of what's perhaps the most wealthy area of Illinois. I'd wager that this area is more liberal than conservative - that, or it's just fullmg33
    • of more empathy and common sense and willingness to do right by others in our community.mg33
    • I've not heard of any arguments in stores, any school board fights, nothing. It's quite the utopia around here. Town of 47,000.mg33
    • Lastly, as a neighbor reminded me last year, it's not about our politics, it's that we have far more healthcare literacy around here. I have neighbors who aremg33
    • Republican, they all hated Trump, they've all worn masks, and they've all done right by each other to keep their kids safe so they can all play together.mg33
    • It sounds lame, but we're blessed to have this "village" of 8 families and 17 kids on our street who have all become closer during this pandemic. :)mg33
    • I'm also in an incorporated village. It's almost entirely upper class, educated people, many with prestigious medical careers. And still ...monospaced
    • What state?mg33
    • they're like this. My street alone (4 blocks long) has a dozen families and 20+ kids all under 12. We're close too, it's utopian. Almost.monospaced
    • It doesn't sound lame. It's amazing the sense of community. I'm so happy that you have that AND they're on the right side of this issuemonospaced
    • I’m in Long Island New York. A very affluent village too.monospaced
    • Those with kids under 12, are they out with you at grocery stores and shopping, etc.? We don't take our 1 year old anywhere indoors like that, strictly outdoor.whatthefunk

I just watched a video of anti-mask parents screaming and threatening a pro-mask parent after a school board meeting in Tennessee and I was reminded of 'Under the Banner of Heaven' by Jon Krakauer. If you're not familiar with that book it's basically an expose on fundamentalist Mormons.

The book is both a history of Mormonism as well as smaller stories of people who receive personal messages from god, which is something the church encouraged at the beginning. The problem with encouraging people to receive these messages is that often times the 'messages' they get are evil as fuck. Killing family members who leave the church, breed with your own kids because god told you that one of your offspring will be the second coming of Jesus, etc. So they had to do away with that encouragement and instead told them that only the head of the church can receive messages. This is where the fundamentalists broke off from the mainline church.

Anyways, it hit me that the GOP is most likely finding themselves in a similar position now. They (and Fox) pumped that sweet anger/patriot/'the others'/'believe your own research (Youtube algo)'/alternative facts dopamine for decades. The bonfire really kicked off with an anti-vaxx Trump who spoke to all their base beliefs, and gave them permission to be themselves. So now the GOP has a base of voters who believe all sorts of nonsense and they can't reign them in without losing their jobs. These voters would turn on them in a dime if they actually told the truth or opposed Trump. So much so that they attack their own colleagues who tell the truth (Cheney/Kinzinger). It's out of control. I watched a Q&A session Asa Hutchinson (Gov of Arkansas) did where he's now pushing for vaccinations (after imposing a school mask ban earlier this year) and it was ugly.

    My 2 cents.

    • Case in point, this just popped up on Twitter. https://twitter.com/…mathinc

    • Trump got the covid vaccine. After covid and a night in the hospital. Don’t forget that shit.monospaced

Reading reports about current vaccines not holding up against Delta variant...

Basically everybody says they hold quite well vs. Israel who says they're 40% now effective and dropping

Really hard to get things right these days.

Then I've read in local news most new cases are in people not vaccinated, by most meaning over 80% so the vaccines seem to hold real well?

How are those with kids under 12 managing these days? Our 1-year-old hasn't been out with us grocery shopping, in stores, etc. b/c there's too much of a risk and b/c she's too young to mask. We spend all our free time outside where she'll play with others and be around others for short periods of time, but for the most part, she hasn't been out in public much at all. I'm not seeing other little ones out in public either.

It's sad how grown adults can't seem to understand how this is impacting the little ones.

    DESIGN CHALLENGE: got ballz?

The Word "CORONA" Is Associated With The Word CROWN.

CHRONOS Is The Greek CROWNED King Of Gods, Whom Is Also Known In Rome As SATURN.

Chronos/Saturn Is The God Of Death And Time.

Like TIME Is The Fate Of All Living Species.

This Was Exactly The Time The Mainstream Media Unveiled The Story Of The CORONA Virus.

    The Word C O R O N A = 66.

That Is Like Two 9s Facing Upsidedown, Which Is A Representation Of Fall/Winter.

The Death Of The Season / The Death Of Life.

    In Reverse C O R O N A = 96 , Which Is A Representation Of Transformation / Change / As Above So Below.

The Corona Virus Was Created By The Dark Cabal.

The Same Solar Wizards That I Have Been Exposing For Years Now.

67 Is A Code Of Sacrifice For The Dark Cabal.

The Corona Virus Is The Virus Of Chronos, Whom Is The God Of Death, And Whom Is Also The God That The Dark Cabal Worship.

R Is The 18th Letter, A Is The 1st Letter, And T Is The 20th Letter.

And 39 Is The Reflection Of 93 (39=93).

    The Name S A T U R N = 93.

    Another Code To Look Into Is W U H A N.

    The Name W U H A N = 67.

In The U S Flag, There Are 6 White Lines And 7 Red Lines.

Consider, last year influenza killed 0 children in the US because we were all taking exceptional precautions, masking, distancing, in many cases moving to remote schooling, remote work, closing restaurants and theaters and Disneyland and everything ... and Covid still killed 400 children in the US (and put thousands in the hospital, and set untold thousands more up with chronic health problems) despite all of those measures, while influenza killed 0.

If you want to imagine what those numbers would/will be like if we stop taking precautions and stop masking in public and just start living like it’s 2019, take a look at what's going on in a country that’s too poor to practically, socially distance mask up, keep kids out of group child care and school. If you want to see how vulnerable children really are to covid in a place that can't afford to do those things, take a look at Indonesia right now. They're literally losing 150 kids a week to COVID.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/…

Our death rates are low because we've put in a lot of effort. Anyone who argues that kids have no/low risks don’t understand how hard we’ve been working to mitigate real risk, and what the consequences of just giving up, stop masking, distancing, protecting them, etc and letting them get Covid would be like.
